PostSubject: Buying Advice - XM177   Tue Nov 03, 2009 10:16 am

Hi All,

Long time lurker, 1st time poster, was hoping someone could offer me some advice.
I am looking for a Marushin XM177 to use as a prop for a film in the UK. We already fulfill the VCRA requirements being a production company but my problem is where to purchase one of these.

I have only found 2 sites that deal with the UK:

http://www.modelguns-worldwide.com/xm177_sniper.htm
http://www.modelguncollector.co.uk/

Has anyone had any experience with either of these companies with regards to reliability, trustworthiness? It is very hard to come by any information regarding either. Are there any other sites that provide / ship to UK companies.

As always thanks for your help! Smile Smile

I have used that shop a few times and got excellent service, it has always been trustworthy to me (note: I am not based in UK).

Check also this new shop based in UK:

Some other private sellers are listed in this thread (second post):

Welcome to the forum Modius, it's a pleasure to have you join us.

Many of us know, and have dealt with both the dealers you've mentioned. From personal experience, both of them have provided me with completely satisfactory and trustworthy service.
If you wanted to avoid the added paperwork involved with importing Replica Guns into the UK, then www.Modelguncollector.co.uk and http://www.plugfirecapgunsuk.com/ are both UK based firms.
Importing is possible of course, either from www.Modelguns-Worldwide.com (based in France) or from www.franckys-modelgun.com (based in Tokyo)
Again, speaking from personal experience, Francky has always provided superb service. Plugfirecapguns.uk are a new company. I've recently bought accessories from them and found them very good to deal with.

Easily being able to prove your VCR exemption its probably best to import from Japan from Francky or Shazib , both great service and reliable.

If using the item for filming its probably worth reading the numerous threads about the function of this particular model.

basically they dont work as well as the MGCs but with some hours spent "refining" them you should get some ok results.
