Hi Cerwyn,

As you have the tips for using the modelgun rounds - now I've problems with some of my cartridges - such as:

After firing the rounds (I know I shouldn't have - but I was tempted) the rounds oxidised and turned dark - I want to make it shiny again...some Japanese-made solvent can solve the problem but is there another way to solve this problem?

Also,

What can I do to polish old rounds like this...is it OK to use a tumbler with stones (just like treating ...

i dont know if you should use WD40.... it could damage something. i know on airsoft guns you're only supposed to use silicone.
oils can damage rubber, and some plastics. you dont want to ruin o-rings etc. mark do you know if WD40 is detrimental to these guns and their components?

I know that I have seen this mentioned somewhere else on this forum, but I'll be buggered if I can find it now that I want to, so, here is the problem in the problem section.

I have not encountered this problem until the other day when I wanted to give a couple of my guns a jolly good thrashing, and decided that to make things easy, I would use the same cartridges for all of them, rather than use different types for each. So, I loaded up my H&K USP and my Sig ...

Maintaining a modelgun after firing it is fairly easy, just remember to have oil, hot water, Q-tips,baking soda and some clean dry towels available after finishing shooting the modelgun(s) for the day.The modelguns have to be cleaned as soon as you are done firing them if you want them to remain in good condition.

The trouble with leaving the modelgun(s) un-cleaned, is that the caps filler (phosphorus) is highly corrosive and it rusts the steel and it will eventually, corrode ...

When a black powder weapon is torn down, some shooters soak virtually everything metal and whatever isn't considered stock or handgrip furniture. Is that appropriate with modelguns, or is it a matter of excess?

As pervasive as the phosphorous fumes can be, it seems like it might be a good idea.

Cerwyn,

1. Obtain a bowl or a pan that is roughly the size or larger of the parts that you intend to clean.

2. fill it half way (or just enough to cover the parts) with hot tap water.

3. Obtain some plain white (distilled is preferred although not really necessary) cooking vinegar and add some to the hot water. Plain white vinegar should be available locally in local groceries etc.

4. Obtain some Baking soda (baking powder/sodium bicarb) again, this should be ...
