Cleaning and Preparing Fired Cartridges

Arguably the biggest and most labourious chore we'll come accross, cleaning cartridges after firing has to be it!

The fact is though, that if your cartridges aren't cleaned properly and cared for, your model gun will not work properly.

This is a 9mm Marushin MP40/UZI cartridge after being fired once. If all th black soot and deposits aren't cleaned off imemediately the cartridge will corrode quickly and will not function properly.

1. Obtain a bowl or a pan that is roughly the size or larger of the parts that you intend to clean.

2. fill it half way (or just enough to cover the parts) with hot tap water.

3. Obtain some plain white (distilled is preferred although not really necessary) cooking vinegar and add some to the hot water. Plain white vinegar should be available locally in local groceries etc.

4. Obtain some Baking soda (baking powder/sodium bicarb) again, this should be available locally ...

Beginner's Guide to... Loading Hudson C.P. type Cartridges.

Hudson cartridges operate on exactly the same principle as do the MGC products. The internals, however, differ slightly in design.

Hudson use a piston that has hole drilled through its' centre to allow smoke to pass through after firing and thus out of the barrel for effect.

see photos below...

Note that in each case, the Hudson Piston is the one on the Left side...

LOADING MARUSHIN 5.56mm M16/XM177 Cartridges

Your modelgun will only function correctly if your cartridges are prepared and loaded correctly.

This is intended as a Step by Step how to achieve this.

This method of loading uses 2 caps, one at 7mm dia plus 1 at 5mm dia. This is not the only method, however, for this particular cartridge. Not all model gun owners will use this method and it's been the subject of debate for quite some time!

Another method uses a "Dead Cap" ...
