I thought I'd take it upon myself to post something as I requested an MGC M4 specific thread so here goes!
I bought my M4 a couple of years ago after seeing it advertised on a website. At the time I knew nothing of modelguns, but I always wanted a replica M4. The guy selling it told me a bit about what PFC guns were, up to then I thought blank firers were the closest to real guns.

Since then, I bought and added a few little accessories to it, although I wasn't aware about the different 'finishes' you can do to the bodywork (blueing etc).
I took the handguards off and fitted a freefloat RAS rail along with a couple of optics and flip up iron sights.

In my opinion it looks a bit better now, especially with the added weight of the RAS rail and optics (replica aimpoint and ACOG).

I have also purchased a replica EOtech but I think the company I bought it from have done me over because its been over a year and I've still not recieved anything! (I was contemplating going for a SWAT-style M4 with that and a 6 position LE stock)

Nice looking M4! I have a Ta31 ACOG replica with the optical fiber if you're interested in replacing the current ACOG you have on there. Only thing you should probably replace is that buttstock.

This is the most recent thread so I though I should ask here, but can you maybe take some pictures of the upper receiver/lower receiver when it is stripped so I can see how the inside is built? I also want to know how the MGC barrels are put together.

I plan on getting the cheapest MGC M series model gun and using the internals/lower receiver and using real AR parts for the rest of the gun. I'm planning on building the latest M4 Carbine MWS for a wall hanger.

From my current knowledge, Western Arms (WA) made their own line of GBB rifles by taking molds from the MGC upper receiver so if real steel uppers don't work, I can get an aftermarket airsoft version to fit onto it. Do you know if real steel Mil-Spec stock tubes will fit onto the lower receiver?

I want to ask all questions on the MGC build before I buy it and then realize that I can't do what I want...

Mostly, I will want to use Colt MFG parts since they are easy to come by to me (I reside in the U.S.) and *plan* to use a real barrel/upper receiver and stock assembly mostly. Any help will be appreciated as info on MGC M4's are pretty scarce.

I, too, am a big fan of anything M4-related. I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I have serious concerns about what you are trying to do.
1. The MGC receivers are slightly smaller than their real steel counterpart. So a real upper would not fit.
2. Trying to put a real upper on a full auto lower (even if it is a toy lower) may cause you some serious headaches if the wrong person were to get a hold of that information. I may be misunderstanding your post - I am sorry if I am. If not, please do not try this. If people start doing this, then pretty soon these models will get banned and so will the more realistic gas blow-back airsoft rifles like the WA M4.

Hi mate, glad you like my M4.
I'm not the best person to ask about what you're intending to do with different recievers/uppers etc. I'm fairly new to the whole world of modelguns and have never really been interested in airsoft as the guns have always seemed like cheap plastic copies to me. I've never handled a real AR either so I couldn't comment on size difference.
I'm happy to strip my M4 down and take some more pictures for you though, no problem. I'll also try to do the same with the barrel assembly or at least upload an image of the instructions.

I'd be interested in the acog replica with the fiber optic...PM me about it.

The stock on my M4 does desperately need changing. I wanted to get hold of a clubfoot stock (with the storage compartments for batteries) like the SEALs use but so far I've not manage to pick one up for 2 reasons;
1. I've been informed that airsoft stocks don't fit on modelguns (plus they tend to be plastic and cheap looking)
2. Apparently a real stock may not fit either. As you mentioned about the stock tube, I don't know if a mil-spec tube is compatible or whether a mil-spec stock is compatible with a modelgun tube. And spending a couple hundred dollars to find it doesn't fit would cause mucho headache!!

In fact, if anyone on this forum knows about airsoft or real stocks/stock tubes it would be greatly appreciated. The standard stock on my MGC is loose and rattles and looks crap!

Thanks! I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join.

Anyways, I think maybe the modelgun buffer is made out of the commercial specifications since it doesn't fit the Mil-Spec stocks. If I can recall, the Mil-Spec buffer diameter is ~1.14" and the Commercial is ~1.17" and airsoft stocks are normally made close to the Mil-Spec.

I really want to see how closely the MGC and WA receivers are made, since there are a lot of aftermarket support for the WA GBB M4 system, the parts may fit (wishful thinking). I really do hope so because I want to upgrade the plastic body of the MGC.

Have you disassembled your barrel assembly yet? I also want to know if the barrels are replaceable because since the WA system is molded after the MGC upper, the airsoft barrels made for the WA should be able to fit.

Here are a couple of pictures I took this morning of the rifle stripped.
I couldn't disassemble the barrel completely because I don't know how (I bought it already made up) and I don't want to risk breaking anything.
I have included the instruction diagram which shows the barrel broken up (parts 204, 205 and 404 make up the barrel)
