Hi,

I was wondering if MGC ever made 30rnd mags for there Thompsons or are they modified Hudson ones

Hi 8ace,

If you want a 30rnd mag for the mgc Thompson then go for a modified real steel one as they work fine,Hudsons mags are a bit pony as they have weak mag lips and the carts tend to jump out when firing Rolling Eyes

BTW i've got a modded 20 rnd mag you can have Very Happy

The real mags look great on Thompsons and I’d advise anybody to mod their models to take them bounce

With a couple of Thompson models available (MGC, CMC/Tanaka, Hudson) I was wondering how to identify the different makers mags Question

I have a few pickys detailing the ones I have, but I was looking for info on other modelgun maker’s mags

Some time ago, I bought a new MGC 30rd mag from a Dealer. I'd bought the modelgun off him so he was happy to provide me with this magazine.

It fitted, but never really fed particulary well.

Looking at these photos, 'ace, it is clear now that the mag sold as an MGC is in fact a Hudson.
The mag' catch hole has been elongated to make it lock into place in the MGC Thompson but the follower, last round stop, cut outs all match the Hudson exactly.

Your original question is a good one... did MGC ever make and sell 30rd mags or are the ones available all modified Hudson mags

These photos might give some clues...

CMC Thompson

There's a glimpse of Tanaka's mag follower viewed through the ejection port in the Tanaka Category but it doesn't give much detail unfortunately.

The CMC photos show catch hole shape, last round stop and feed lip details reasonably well though.
