Received my all metal Marushin 712 from Jay this morning.

Apart from all the 'bling' it looks like a nice solid construction. I'll get rid of the plating soon enough. The next step is to try and get the pistol to look like the real thing. I know for a fact that the real Schnellfeuers were made in matte black and the C96 had a rich royal blue finish.

So, how to go about it ; I'm not sure if normal gun blue will work on zinc Failing which, I may have to get professional help. Again, I'm not sure if zinc can be anodized

Now that I have the metal model, my ABS model is surplus to requirement. Anyone interested please let me know and I'm sure you'll get a bargain.

great gun you have there "bling" never thought of describing the gold like that before but the term fits.
I also want to blacken or blue the gun there has to be a way to do it as years ago i had a S&W 357 snubbie that was blued but chrome underneeath and that worked well

The polished zinc just underneath the gold (real) plating, can be blued with Birchwood caseys "SuperBlue" and it will turn out fine if the instructions are followed closely.

That horrible gangster rap term "Bling" is ruining the UK too eh? Sad.....

Hi Jay,

i've tried the Birchwood Casey's Alloy gun blue on chrome, and it doesn't work either it just leaves the chrome a dirty brown,
the only way is to remove the chrome and that is more trouble than its worth.

Thanks...helfire
