Cerwyn,

Manual does not show cleaning procedure (at least mine).
Unfortunately almost whole replica has to be diassembled before you can get to the chamber :-/

It goes something like that (if my memory works right):
- unhook sling or make it long, so that metal part at the front can later move freely.
- at right side, near front, in middle of wood there is a leaf spring. Push front part, so that pin leaves a hole.
- pull the metal piece forward.
- remove and store leaf spring.
- pull the next metal piece (the one that sling attaches to) forward, clear wood.
- remove top wood piece.

The next step is to remove all metal from the stock:
- remove bolt from replica (just move left-side latch to left, pull bolt back).
- remove magazine (cover and spring) by pushing pin at the bottom, just in front of the trigger guard, and then sliding cover (just like in a real 98k). Warning: there is a spring ;-)
- unscrew two screws that hold trigger assembly at the bottom, remove trigger assembly. Warning: be careful as major parts can fall apart after unscrewing.
Note: large horizontal screw that goes through wooden stock (left-right) is fake, it does not hold anything.

Now you should be able to separate stock from barrel and all metal parts.
They will probably separate themselves, be careful.

At the bottom you should be able to see gas bypass - your target.
I do not remember next steps, but they were fairly obvious and easy - bottom of bypass can be unscrewed to gain access to insides..

Detonator pin simply unscrews (not from inside of chamber where cartridge loads, but "outside" or "front").
Make sure you note original "depth", or test it with cartridge later, as the pin can be screwed in through!

Phew, now it is clear why people do not like firing long arm replicas - it is the cleaning that spoils the fun ;-D

Thank you smootik

That's ideal and should get me on my way.

It certainly does sound like a lot of work keeping this beauty clean... better get some practice in very soon I think
