PostSubject: Restamping Beretta pistols   Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:09 pm

As the pathetic "Pierce Bullet" instead of "Pietro Beretta" was stamped on the new Marushin M84 as well as the original stampings on my New MGC Beretta M92F started to wear off, I've decided to visit a laser engraving specialist earlier on (of course I'd to rub out all the old stampings as best as I can for the new stampings)...

Even though it was below my expectations (incorrect and uneven stamping - but most importantly my buffing skill) but with stamping cost of just HKD$40.00 (£3.67 or ¥500) on one side, I think I'll give them another chance later on...

Any gentleman here who can tell me how to rub out the old markings more effectively? Thanks in advance...

Hello 8ace Very Happy

I don't think it'll be easy to buff the old markings off from the Thompson (you must be talking about the MGC and you want to get rid of that "classified post-styled" marking on the left of the receiver isn't it?)...

For me I'd soaked a napkin with tap water mixed with Dettol (something hygienic and corrosive at the same time) and rub it hard on the HW slides...that's the best that I can do at the moment...

I sent some close-up pics to the guy and he printed it and copy the markings as faithful as possible with his computerised laser device.

If it is a HW material, then using a very fine grade of wet and dry sandpaper (the black stuff) will do the trick. You must go gently, or else you will scratch the surface too deeply. The same will also happen if you use to coarse a grade of sandpaper. I did this with a zinc Glock B/F, and gave the engraver a Tanaka Glock 17 slide to copy the markings from. It turned out really nice.

looks good the HW material looks better than the ABS, i have an old ABS version which is probably better to fire in that it does not break as easy, but does not look as good. I used to hate these guns to small and ugly i thought but they have grown on me over the years and now i think they look good especially this one.
