SHOEI company will produce a MP40 model in the future.

Now that is a must have for me ,any idea on a release date?

This sounds exciting ... Shoei build quality is superb without a doubt. I wonder, in reality, how much better a cap firing Shoei MP40 could be compared to an MGC version

Even though MGC MP40s haven't been produced for years they're still around. They're expensive, but I'll bet Shoei's will be much dearer.

I think that previous sales must have been good (MP44 is sold out afaik) for Shoei to decide trying another model. It is a good sign :-) MP40 is also very popular among reconstructors.

hmmm... whilst any "new" model must be exciting and Shoei do make exceedingly good guns ..it would be an odd choice to make an MP40 in my humble opinion.

There are already countless "other" MP40s out there ( from MGC to Marushin to Denix ) so the market must be smaller than their MP44 and FG42s

If anywhere near $1000 USD then this is going to narrow the field even more as you could get two or three of the others for this

Shoei are not known for their superlative firing and its a lot of money for a dummy model.

I dont doubt it would be super accurate and detailed but it would make more sense to make something that was a bit more scarce and in higher demand.

dont ask me what .......but Id like to see a metal grease gun ( because the hudson one is a bit poo ) before another MP40

I think they are trying to target a different (than Denix, airsoft) market here, the one they are selling to right now. People buying Shoei replicas buy them for quality and a certain uniqueness. Most people go for cheaper replicas, as they are good enough for what they want.

So far the choice for MP40 replica is:
- MGC: firing, steel, but very rare, very expensive, spare parts are not easy to get
- Nakata: firing, metal, very rare, expensive, spare parts not easy to get
- Marushin: firing, metal, quite rare, expensive, spare parts common with ABS version (?)
- Marushin: firing, ABS, mid-priced, available, as assembled or kit versions
- Denix: dummy, metal, cheap, inaccurate and without some working parts
- TOP, SRC, AGM: airsoft, metal, cheap, not so accurate
- springers: airsoft, plastic, extremely cheap and very inaccurate.

All firing metal ones were made in 60's and 70's, I think.
I would say that Shoei MP40 would target MGC/Nakata/metal Marushin.

For a long time already metal models of MP40 from MGC and Marushin are not manufactured.
The market of this model from SHOEI will be same (or even more) as models of MP44 and FG42.
I hope to get museum quality of MP40 model for the price in 1000 USD.
This model will have stamps, which are very important for collectors

The people I know that bought FG42,Mkb and MP44 ( and I know quite a few ) bought them because there is no alternative (apart from the MP44 and good deactivated ones of these are now £2000 +)

I really dont see any of these guys buying a $1000 MP40 model.

Dont get me wrong guys ...I LOVE the MP40 which is why I have three MGCs , one MP38 BF, a Nakata a TRC , an Asahi and two Marushins (one airsoft )

....but personally I dont think I could justify $1000 on another model.

How are your models look like real MP40 in size, weight, design, stamps,... ?
In the Russian Federation now I can buy MP 38 (museum quality) made of metal for 2200 USD

I'd agree with Doc, one of my personal favourites is the MP38/40, it always has been since I was a kid.
I have an MGC68 MP40, 2 X Marushin abs MP40s, an Airsoft GBB Marushin MP40 and a Marushin MP41.
I couldn't see myself justifying a $1000 on a Shoei version. I just don't need another MP40

A Shoei MP38 on the other hand, could be tempting. If they produced the '38 to their usual exacting standards, complete with accurate stamps... it'd be VERY tempting.

But even so, MGCUK produce a blank firing MP38... Yes it's much more expensive than $1000, they were planning on producing a PFC '38 which would suit my requirements fully. Given the choice between a dummy and a firing version, I'd go the firing route myself.

A metal Grease Gun would indeed be a highly desireable model, as would a Type 100 Japanese SMG.

I have recently bought a Shoei MP44, which is a beautifully made model, and a fabulous looking gun. It is easily the most expensive model gun I've bought, but, as Doc said, there is no other serious choice. I could've bought a much cheaper Chinese made AGM electric Airsoft MP44 BUT I personally don't find electric driven guns appealing... they're just not realistic enough.
Shoei quality is outstanding, no doubt, but is there room in the market for another MP40 and one priced at $1000

PPU, who produces/supplies those full metal MP38s in your photograph please I wasn't aware anyone else made the '38 alongside MGCUK.
