Soldiers admit Iraq gun charges
Four soldiers have pleaded guilty at a court martial to charges connected to an alleged plot to smuggle pistols out of Iraq and sell them for cash.
...
Quote :
The gun was an imitation weapon converted to fire live ammunition. Handmade rounds were found with it.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh crap not another imitation gun turned into a live gun story-thats the last thing we need the press to latch onto here as we get a hard enough time here in the UK as it is What type of replica do you think this was??? Icon_cry

Surely that soldiers on active duty in a war zone could lay their hands on captured "real" pistols instead of messing about with imitation firearms????????

My thoughts exactly- why mess with toy guns when you can buy a real AK for less?

Uh! the chance of an imitation firearm in Iraq, yeah right! what government owned newspaper was this, more press crap, handmade rounds i take it they mean reloads, cos of course when you go abroad you always take your reloading kit just in case and if you forget then the British government will supply you with a free one cos we all know how much they like to spend on good kit for service personel.
What a comlete load of tosh, but the papers love us gun enthusiasts really.

No way. By hand made rounds they are referring to the type of bullet that can easily be made by opening up an old firwork (carefully of course) and removing the gunpowder, as this is quicker and easier than mixing it yourself. You then place the said gunpowder inside a makeshift shell case, usually made from plastic or some such easily reformed substance that can roughly resemble the shape of a bullet. Then you just need to pop a projectile in the end, a stone perhaps, or a lump of old solder. Bobs your uncle, Fanny's your aunt, there is your homemade round. Wouldnt fire for shit though!
