I stumbled on this monstrosity today... Shocked Shocked Shocked

[Quote: During the WW2 Russian Army was using a “Fire Hedgehog” - the set of 88 Tommy-gun alike machine guns loaded into a plane. It was used at low attitude flights to effectively saw off hundreds of enemy soldiers. When the pilot got above some Nazi crowd the pilot of started fire, then the doors in the plane’s bottom were opened and this Fire Hedgehog was coming into play, eighty something non-stop firing machine guns could really look like the Hedgehog from Hell.]

By my calculations it has a fire rate of 79200 rounds per minute Shocked

But as they only have 71 round mags that would be 6248 rounds fired in about 5 seconds (An early minigun Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation )

Scary isn't it?

I suppose a few anti-personnel bombs would've been more effective but this thing would definately make the poor buggers on the ground keep heads down...

They'd get strafed by 6248 bullets then pelted by 6248 hot spent cases too Exclamation

I wonder i this was ever used or was just an experment?

This reminds me an early era of appolo project.
When US was trying to develop single powerful rocket, Russia put 4 rockets into one (one body, 4 exhaust).
I think Russian tends to live with something they already have.....very practical?

thats a very early creation of several (in use) guns that are made today...

csi miami recently featured this type of weapon on its programme.

the funny thing about this is they use it as a back up ... ie on lines if a enemy is advancing... they will let 10 of these or so off.... well as you will imagine it stops them dead in there tracks.

I think I should apply for one of these... hmmm will a section 5 cert be allowed to carry them... lol

can you see a reason... yeah I want to test them out (as allowed) but bring it to a farm and you can get rid off all the rabbits in one blow..

lol

ok moving on now. lol
