Where can these slings be located for a good price? The originals are usually far too expensive to attach on my Hudson.
Thanks!

Thanks Rizzo,

I checked eBay as suggested and found them. These reproduction slings are alot cheaper than my original Kerr sling that I had bought for my semi auto AutoOrdnance M1 Thompson!

Thanks also goes out to Cerwyn for the original "heads up" on the Kerr sling M1A1 Thompson Reproduction Slings Icon_exclaim

Hiya

Sorry, I should've said e-Bay shouldn't I !
Glad I could help, the sling I bought for one of my Thompsons is the Kerr replica and it's a ringer for the real one.
The e-Bay shop has a large range too.

Mark,

Have you tried IMA (International Military Antiques)?
I think I saw this name several times in this forum and actually, I bought 2 Kerr slings for my Hudson M1AI. It is replica, cost only 24.95 per sling so I believe it worth checking.

But one thing I should stress. When I received the slings from IMA, I saw rust around metal clip or rings. Some points were even red-rust. There was no indication with rust on a web catalog, I was about to ship them back. However, I end up not shipping back considering all the hustle, instead, sand with "steel-wool" (I don't know how it called in English, a sponge made out of fine steel lines, you would use to sand a rust around stainless kitchen sink or other metal kind). It look oh~kei now. It fits well onto my Hudson.

cheers,

Thanks for the information shazhib!

I haven't bought one of their slings (yet) but, I will soon! Yes, "steel wool" is we call it here in the U.S. I use steel wool all of the time to remove rust. I place some light oil on the rust first and then use the steel wool.

The Kerr replica I bought via e-Bay originally, from WHAT PRICE GLORY had absoutely no rust whatsoever.
This is the one I mentioned to Mark at the beginning of this thread.
I've bought items from IMA-USA in the past too and found some of them to be in 'not as new condition' but there again if it's war issue stock it's bound to show some signs of age by now.
If you are happy with 'as new' looking repro's then try What Price Glory, I certainly wasn't dissapointed. I checked his e-Bay shop now, he's got the Thompson slings in at just over £13 Sterling...

Cerwyn,

cheers for your input.
I just checked "What Price Glory" sits, it looks lot better than the one I bought from IMA. I understand if it were an original item from back in WWII day having a rust, dirt, sweat or whatsoever, I wasn't expected to have light brown rust almost printed onto sling itself coded as "reproduction". Anyway, I will check again WPG next time.

BTW, I have one English question. What would be a good term for sling, grips, gun case or any gun or rifle attachment or accessory? When I tried to find a site like IMA (but want to find more in this kind), use a term "militaria" for search, most of sites been hit carrys uniform, field gear or not directly attached to firearms. I apprecaite if you can suggest good term for this. What I'm looking for is stock, magazines, slings, cover or case, clips (for rounds) or any other attachment something directly related to guns or rifles.

bye

Hello shazhib,

I think the terms your using should be fine really when looking for specific parts.
Gun Cases, Stocks, Butts, "Furniture" is used but you may need to specify a particular gun maybe or you'll end up looking at settees and wardrobes!
Slings, Magazines, they're all pretty universal I guess.
Have you tried using a specific gun manufacturer, or model as your search starting point?
Try UZI for example, or Thompson SMG, something like that?
American dealers are there, but getting them to export parts may be impossible!

Cerwyn,

Appreciate your advise.
Yes, I also search something with a specific name or maker (i.e. Lugar, "Mauser 712", "MP40 parts"). Sometime it really works, sometime doesn't. Anyway, keep on serchi'n.

Thanks again.
