I to am having a problem with my Luger. Have managed to fire only once, and now its won't set the caps off.
I have had a look at the firing pin and there is some green on it, which i presume is left over cap. I think this maybe causeing the fault.

However i have no idea how to take apart, i got the grips and front lever off...but i cannot get the safety off, looks a right pain.

Any suggestions? I just got my 5mm caps and have been waiting to fire this for along time...and now this....

Please help!

Lewis

Hi Lewis,

Not a pretty Job taking the Luger apart. Hold of on that for a moment.

What type or cartridges are you using the ones that unscrew or the early one piece type ?

it came with the early one piece. Just wondering also how you get the empty caps out again! Also in the manual it shows like 3 small stones being put behind the cap? Any idea what those are?

Yes if it is the early one piece then small bits of 5mm cap can be lodged on and around the pin.

There were two types of early cartridge , one had a tiny hole in the back and this had a small brass plug that went in before the cap.
The cap/plugs on these are pushed out via the hole at the back.
The other type are a bit more tricky in that they have no hole .

What you need to make is a small metal rod with a wide hook on the end put this up inside the cartridge and drag the caps out, as long as this is done soonish after firing (not left for two days ! ) then they should come out ok.

the small lumps shown in your instruction manual are the original paper caps that gun was made to use, paper caps are now replaced by the plastic ones we all know and love.

Thanks Doc, any idea how i can get this muck off the pin without taking the gun apart?

Also would you recommend getting the newer multi piece cartidges?

Any other ideas what might be jamming the gun?
