Hudson Sten Barrel repair

So my Hudson Sten Barrel broke - It was leant up against the wall in my 'gun cupboard ' and fell over when I opened it (vinyl floor doesn't help) the barrel took the brunt of the fall and snapped clean in two where the gas recirculation pipe slots into the dummy barrel.

I managed to effect a repair by drilling out a little and widening the remnants of the circulation pipe and Nylocking a bolt in to bridge the two halves. This will render the gas recirculation system inoperative, but tbh I never saw any smoke come out of the barrel anyway.

The barrel seems Ok now anyway, nice and tight, but is a little shorter than original as a small section of barrel broke off whilst drilling. I was quite disappointed with the quality of the metal, but I guess that's the nature of Modelguns and it has to be said some of the quality of metal used on some of my GBB'S beat this hands down. Thankfully it's fixed though - albeit a little agriculturally .. .

While Hudson make a couple of my favourite modelguns (Thompson and MK2 Sten)    the metal used to cast them is not the best in the world. It’s lighter than MGC and can have inclusions throughout the part
