Which glue??

Hello All,

I have a model gun's part to fix (ABS HW) and I wonder which glue use? Cyanolite or something else?
I add it's a part which will have no pressure on it so it will be stay ok.

Hi Momocampo, I thought somebody with more experience than I would have answered your question by now!

I did some research and discovered that you only need acetone for ABS plastic; no need for other products or glue.

I assume HW ABS would be the same: just brush some acetone on both pieces, join them and wait 5 minutes.
You will find that your two pieces should become literally one piece.

So try some scrap pieces first, just to make sure.

For now, I used cyanolite glue but if the part doesn't stay, I will try your method

Sorry i missed this question,
Bad news I am afraid... HW material is VERY VERY hard to glue, I have asked Japan about this and it is problem there also, the HW material just does not like to be glued!!
It Obviously depends on how much load the joint will be taking but it can be fixed "but probably wont hold" if it is a non load bearing / pressure bearing area by using a two part epoxy glue.

This is ano ngoing problem and if anyone knows of a solution I for one would be very greatful !!!

If I can I use FIRE !! I.e. heat weld/melt the parts, but this is not possible most of the time, only on well hidden joints.

It's strange because glues for plastic are really easy to find but maybe it's not for abs HW.
