An added bonus is the number of Model Gun clips that show up at the end of each of your clips. Kudos.

Great videos ljerr Thanks very much for sharing these
It's nice to see your family getting involved with modelguns too.
Great muzzle effect from the Tanaka M36 and Hudson Derringer I'll be looking forwards to seeing some more videos from you

Any suggestions as to which gun to film next? Others I have - CAW SAA .45. I love this model! I have triple cap cartridges for it and it is very, very loud with good muzzle flash! TK GM7 - again, love this model. It just works! TK M4 - more love! This model fires so smoothly - maybe too smoothly! Tanaka .357 Python - great replica with some muzzle effect MGC M9 Kokusai M60
I thought about experimenting with two caps on the Tommy (but there already seems to be enough smoke!) or trying the "real flame" caps in certain models, but I generally think the MG caps' effect is more realistic.
I did recently purchase some "prop powder" or Mg powder and MAY try it - but I'm a little cautious here......anyone on the forum care to share results, suggestions, successes or failures with it in another thread?
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ljerr,
I've yet to see the 3 cap cartridges being fired so that's one I'd like please
Double capping is something I tried a long time ago in my MGC Thompsons but there's nothing gain really. Blowback can be too strong causing the gun to overrun and / or jam more often. The risk of cartridge damage also increases. More often than not, blowback cartridges are best used with the recommended number of caps, usually one only.
Real Flame caps perform just like Marushin caps. Plenty of sparks but certainly no "real flame".
Type in "Muzzle Flash" into the Search function for previous discussions on attempts to achieve good looking effects. To date, I can tell you that short barrel models, pistols generally, work well with Magnesium powder but anything longer like MP40s are a real struggle. Here's looking forwards to sharing ideas and experiences with muzzle flash

I will get the CAW out and shoot a video soon. I only own one CAW and it is a fine, fine model. Very smooth and tight. It has been some time since I fired it, but the camera will not likely catch the true volume of sound that the gun creates. I liken it to a real .22 caliber pistol in sound! As far as muzzle flash, I'll let the video do the talking there...............
Muzzle flash is probably something that many modelgunners would like to perfect - me included. That is one of the attractions to me of revolvers is that they usually produce good muzzle flash (in my opinion) with only using caps. However, my favorite guns are autos.
When you tried double-capping the Tommy before, did you load the cartridge as normal and then insert the piston into the cartridge farther so you could fit the cap on top of the piston (outside of the sealed area created by the piston)? I'm sure the barrel length would still not allow muzzle flash, regardless. I will likely abandon this idea...........
But, I think if it can be done with the MP40 (video posted by MrModelgun), then it could be done with the MGC Tommy! I wouldn't sacrifice my gun to get flash, though. I wouldn't mind a bit more cleaning, but I certainly don't want to damage these rare and expensive toys!
Thanks for your input!!!

I agree with you, ABS and HWABS Revolvers with open barrels can produce very effective muzzle flash effects with caps only. Their cartridges don't need to blowback so all the gases produced by the caps are thrown straight through the barrel. Adding a small amount of Magnesium powder into the cartridge will produce really effective Flash.
MrModelgun uses his own "secret" mix of ingredients to achieve the effects he does. Below is the MGC Stirling video post:

I suspect that Firing sound and Muzzle Flash have been digitally enhanced on this video, but if not, I'd like to learn how he's created such realistic effects
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0coUMMi41BA&feature=sub Having had some interesting discussions with MrModelgun, I'm assured that the muzzle flash achieved in this video is indeed genuine, not digitally enhanced. A "secret" mix of magnesium powder and some other compond is used. Cartridges are MGC P220. I can only suppose that a powder used in flares carried in all Japanese cars is used with Magnesium. This flare was first discussed by forum member wataru some time ago. Quite how the powder is mixed and loaded into the cartridge is unclear at the moment. I have just aquired a small quantity of drilled cartridge pistons, which are the same thickness as MGC types. Drilled in the same fashion as Hudson pistons, these allow more gas and smoke to vent out. I've seen good results today using Magnesium powder and MG caps loaded into P220 and fired in my WaShan M9 Dolphin. Now I know that works, I'll try my Stirling next.
As for the open barrel MGC Thompson, I've tried both methods of double-capping hoping for some muzzle effect without any success. The method as you describe having one extra cap above the piston:
If we could find out exactly what type of "prop powder", set up of the cartridge and if any modifications are made to the chamber and/or barrels of MrModelguns's models perhaps we could replicate his great effects
