PostSubject: Denix Colt 357 Magnum 8"   Denix Colt 357 Magnum 8" Icon_minitimeSun Sep 01, 2013 2:22 am

One month ago I had this burning fneed to get the replicas of my childhood heroes gun.
The first model that popped up in mind was the Colt Python 357 Magnum.
I didn't have any knowledge of what was available but remembered seeing very beautiful things in the Airsoft zone.
I've googled Python 357 replica though, and found the Denix one with superlative introductions but no reviews whatsoever. So I pulled the trigger and was pretty excited about it.

For those who order things from all around the world, delivery days can be your selfish xmas as much as your worst nightmare.
It was halfway between those two feelings.
The box is nothing but crap. Nothing to protect the replica inside and some poor totally useless notice was inside.
The replica is heavy which is nice, but the details are so random and approximative! There's a gap between the cheap plastic grips, markings aren't sharp and the mechanism is terrible.
All that's left is the feel of a heavy pice of junk.
And now some pics:

The paint was to laugh at! I've tried to polish it softly and what you see is the result of 15 min of work! The sticky black paint wears off with no resistance.

Please avoid this replica and save yourself some cash.

It is common knowledge that Denix replica guns are quite poor quality and are best to avoid in most cases.
The Japanese made guns are without a doubt the best.

Anyway your model is quite old, I'd say approx. 40 years as it has the old "BKA" proof stamp.
All dummy replicas in Germany back then had to have that proof stamp making sure it was no real firearm or that it could be converted into one.
If you have not paid too much, just enjoy your model and think about refinishing it ...

No, the newer Denix models ar not better I'd say. Anyway your model is quite old, which makes it still a nice collector's piece I'd say.
