.223 MGC High Impact Cartridges/Question

Hi everbody.

First of all: Thank’s for this great forum and all the infos.

I am owner of a M4A1 heavy weight model gun made by MGC and looking for some new and better blowback cartridges.

In the last time quite a bit has happened on this sector (I mean improved shells like hexagon type cartridges etc.).

My question: Are some .223 High Impact Cartridges (suitable for MGC modelguns) on the market? If yes, where can I get them?

Hello Thomas, welcome to the Forum

MGC's own .223 CP-HW cartridges are becoming harder to find since MGCs' closure. However, there may be some stock still around on dealers' shelves or in Japanese warehouses.

It is possible to use Tanio Koba Light Alloy .223" cartridges which feature the Hex. Cut Piston in MGC models without any modification.

I would not describe them as "High Impact" as that might suggest they are more durable than the MGC originals. In my opinion, the Tanio Koba carts are not as strong as the brass MGC. The screw on top tends to blow out and spread very quickly which leads to problems feeding from the magazine.
MGC cartridges will do this too eventually but after many more "shots".
That said, Tanio Koba's cartridge fires well, gives more effect and flies further when ejecting

Thank’s for your leads. The problem of the mentioned cartridges is, that I have to convert my modelgun. So I think after conversion, the old HW Cartridges won’t work anymore.

What kind of modifications are you planning
There should be no need to make any changes to your M4 if you're going to use TKoba .223"
so you could still use the MGC type.

Since we began discussing this topic, Tanio Koba have ceased production of their M4.223" cartridge which is disappointing If you have any, take good care of them. The MGC .223" are still available in limited quantities.
