looks good, but was the safety slipping on between shots?

Thanks for posting this christian

One of the many Japanese videos I've seen performed exactly like yours, i.e. the slide wasn't closing fully after each shot making it necessary to nudge the side closed each time. Maybe it is down to positioning the piston in each cartridge as you say.
It will be very interesting to see how you cure this little problem!

Safety doesn’t move during fire. Internal movement in the cartridge feels smooth but I will start out with experiments on the loading of the cartridge

One of the vids i have seen shows the loading of the cart and the piston was pushed down when the round was fully assembled.

Thanks Claymore
Tried it out last night
It does improve but doesn’t solve the problem
Challenge is the when manually cycling the slide or releasing it from the magazine catch position the slide closes perfect and the model fires perfect.

BUT the reload (slidecycle) fails to return fully, often just missin 1-2mm in being fully forward.
Next I think I need to have a thorough look at the return spring function Rolling Eyes

The instruction say to put the piston right down, and the supplied tool does that for you. I do not think you are having a cart issue at all. When it is stipped and reassembled the two ends of the recoil springs must sit inside the recessed holes in the frame, I think it is a recoil sping thing, interesting to see it slow mo, and see if it is actually "bouncing" out of position after fully closing??

ahhhh...........the frustratingly intricate and delicate balance between a semi auto modelgun not firing and running away/double tapping, etc...

You might be fortunate enough in that the model is still so new that it just isn't broken in yet. Sometimes I've seen the HW slides actually need to bed-in a little bit before they get the typical smooth action. Perhaps a little silicone oil might be your friend there if you haven't already lubricated it.

Keep us posted please!

Yeah but the “beast” is close to 50 rounds now
I planning to have a carefull look at the return spring and considering making a slow motion clip if lubing the return spring doesn’t do it

I’ll be back Twisted Evil

Was fascinated by this, so had a look at loads of slowmo vids and it seems clear from the ones here (mine does not do it) that the slide closes and then bounces a slight amount "sometimes" resulting the extractor claw coming off over the rim of the round, the slide then needing a slight push to hop the extractor over the rim. Solution would seem to be a very slightly stiffer extractor spring, or maybe an extractor "re-profile", will keep looking Smile MAYBE LOL

I'm sorry but I'm seriously unimpressed by the look and sound of the gun. After all the hype it looks and sounds plasticky. I don't think I'll ever come to like any ABS guns after the lovely full metal ones I used to collect. Put me down as Mr Grumpy.

Grumpy or not - nothing beats the heavy cold feel of a metal model

The Tanaka isn’t cheap but the detail and surface finish is really nice

After some very kind and good inputs I will get back to testing and trial to get the cycle running reliably.
I will continue the problem solving in a post under “problems” but will be back with video updates once there is proper progress

I have a bit of a challenge. The video I am posting was recorded in slow motion. Plays in slow motion on my. IPhone but when uploaded to YouTube it runs real speed !
Sorry for that but I’ll share anyway

just got mine and fired some rounds through and it fired perfectly, the slide was going fully home and i have to say i am really impressed with this model, got a bit of kick to it as well.
There has to be a simple reason yours is not going fully home, so are you doing the following:

1. silicone spray on the slide and frame
2. silicone spray on the recoil guides and springs
3. silicone grease or spray on the piston seal
4. pushing the piston down with the supplied tool once the bullet head is on
5. making sure you have the inner round cylinder the right way round (seal at the top)

There are no instructions on how the gun should be put back together once the slide has been taken off and springs removed, i know it looks simple to put back but the springs need to be located correctly in the holes. I could not get the frame to fully located at first so i could lock it up but found that you needed to pull the slide fully to the rear and then it all located and i could lock it up.

I found the same issue on re-assembling, important to make sure the two springs are fully located in the two holes in frame Smile
