Tanaka Glock 18!

I don't have the 18, but I have the 17 and think it is a great little model.
Is yours an Evolution version model? Tanaka addressed some of the original version's weaknesses with the Evo release supposedly.
I had a couple of issues with mine out of the box, which might be unusual. Those centered around getting proper barrel action/tilt upon cycling. It purrs like a kitten now after a few minor adjustments.

Will you be "firing" it? My recommendation is to fire it!
I think that is the beauty of these models to me!
And if you DO fire it, please share a video!

Be cautioned though, replica model guns like these are not made of highly durable materials!

I have no idea if I have the EVO model, mine feels like it has a nice HW frame.
Also, which caps do you think would be better, the Marushin or MG caps? (5mm)

Cap choice is personal preference.
Generally, the Marushin caps produce sparks and the MG caps do not.

If you have the model box, it will have an Evolution sticker on it if it is that version.  Also, you can tell by the internals of the original carts that have been included with the model if they are Evo cartridges or not.

If you get a different detonator for it, you can use standard M9 MGC cartridges with your G18.  Those cartridges are much simpler in construction and they use 7mm caps.  You should also be able to use Ctec mild kick 7mm aluminum cartridges - I am going to check that out myself soon since they are easier to clean than their brass counterparts.

Turns out it is an evolution model, and I'll definitely try the detonator pin switch.
Off topic, but I've disassembled all of the 18 so far except for these parts in the slide, you know how to? (not my pic):

One problem with this model is the screw that holds the thingame whatsit( No idea whats its called but the pics tell you everything).
You should put some screw lock on the thread as this screw has a nasty habit of coming loose and raises the plate causing jams.
if you use full auto check this plate and screw after every mag just in case (even with the screw lock) they have moved.

That's good to know - I was planning to put my G17 through the paces sometime soon, so I'll make sure to check this piece!
