I was looking through some of my modelguns today and naturally I was wondering if it would be alright to replace the plastic firing pins with a custom metal one. I remember someone on this site did it before, and I do recall him saying it worked fine with no significant damages to the cartridges or detonater.

I'm thinking about doing this for all the guns, what do you guys think?

Hi Bruchko,

I made a steel replacement firing pin extension for my KSC Beretta M93R and it works great. The problem is that the breach block that holds the pins in place is glued into the slides to prevent people from replacing the plastic pins with replacement steel firing pins! It can be done however, not only do the breach blocks have to be cut out to get at the plastic pins, the replacement pins have to be hand made as I don't think that they can be bought.

Firepin is the most sensitive part inside a gun/modelgun, I mean legally. For many places including here in HK, such firepin modification is regarded as an attempt to produce real firearm to shot real ammu. & thus breaking the law, regardless whether it is really possible or not! I know it is very arguable but the fact is that will surely cause you trouble, if caught. So please check with your legislation first in order to play safe! I rather not to do that here.
