I attach section 36-38 of the VCR bil. Reading this it would appear that if the seller of model guns were to spray paint the guns before shipment they would be classed as one of the below. Your thoughts on this please.

A realistic imitation firearm is one which, for all intents and purposes, is indistinguishable from a real firearm. (A de-activated firearm is not a realistic imitation firearm, neither is an antique imitation). An imitation firearm that is not a realistic imitation firearm may be sold, manufactured, imported, etc. if it meets certain criteria, including principal colour, shape and size.
The principal colours are:

(a) bright red
(b) bright orange
(c) bright yellow
(d) bright green
(e) bright pink
(f) bright purple; and
(g) bright blue

The Act permits importation, sales, and transactions in imitation firearms manufactured in a transparent material.

Puh! Well you can give it a try, but in terms of the law bright yellow is not shiny gold I would say ... The point is it must not look like any finish that is used on real guns, and there are some (very few) golden hand guns ... VCR Bill... Sections 36 - 38 Icon_sad

I've just re-read the phrasing of the act and it's a no go..
An imitation firearm that is not a realistic imitation firearm

My underlining.

Okay, I see, so this means the transparent and bright green water pistols I used to play with as a child ...

I understand it that ANY imitation firearm as long as it's painted in that list of bright and horrible colours is exempt from classification as a "Realistic" imitation firerm

One Airsoft retailer is now selling a range of AEG's with lots of bright green paint painted on them stating the are allowed asfar as the VCRA goes.

The sting, though, is that yes, you can buy one quite legally but if you remove the green paint or repaint it to make it look realistic then you are breaking the law.
They clobber you for Manufacturing a Realistic Imitation Firearm...
