Subject: Dummy shoei MG42 Fri Apr 09, 2010 10:54 am
Now 2 gun shops in HK carry this model...this is from Den Trinity...
What I want to tell is that now Shoei releases the "more limited" dummy MG42 (instead of GBB) - mechanically will be more realistic...now I want one but I've to spend more on freight because I've to order this direct from Tomio san (Shoei's President)...better think twice...

So have you place an order for this beauty PPU? I'd just sent an email to Tomio san and now awaiting reply...
I'd paid in full for another exciting HK-made dummy gun so I shall let my wallet recover...but what the heck, I'll try to get this anyway as who knows what will happen tomorrow...
What I'd mentioned before was assumption only (regarding this dummy is technically more faithful than the GBB) based on the belief that GBB have to somehow cater for the gas blowback firing mechanism...
And at the time of writing those GBB MG42 in HK are still behind the shop's window - too expensive for current economic climate...

Got this display version (no GBB) for over a month now and I can hardly find a good place for it...having this on the windowsill for this photo only and now it usually lying straight on the wall with the bipod folded (like a broom)...
This is the refurbished former-Yugoslav MG42 drum mag by Shoei - very attractive apart from the price (and most importantly this is considered as real gun parts in HK so I don't want to get in trouble) - now I wish some Chinese AEG makers will somehow make one for their AEG that I can fit...

A very nice gun, Jim! Congratulations! I know that a man collecting too much modelguns can run out of space one day. Maybe you can find the time to take some pictures and write a review. I am sure everyone would love it!

A review...not too many to describe as Shoei already shows that the mechanism is empty (since this is a Display Model)...but I'll definitely try to make out as many as I can (both text & pics)...
With a strong typhoon visiting HK this coming weekend: this shall be the best time for it !

FYI - picked this up from the post office this morning before work...
30 dummy 7.92mm rounds with shells dyed black straight from Tomio san of Shoei factory (many many thanks to him as these rounds were once thought to have been "out-of-stock") with 3 different cardboard ammo boxes as requested.
Wanted the repainted drum mag as well but in reality it's difficult (also especially after seeing that the military surplus ones only cost less than £50 in the UK).
I'm on the brink of bankruptcy ...

Another wild guess from me - during wartime some shells were made with iron or low-grade steel or other metal instead of brass...and after sometime the shells oxidised and turned black - and Shoei faithfully reproduced these dummy rounds...
Can still see some live ammo with black shells nowadays such as Russia's "Wolf" as well as some military surplus...
Then the boxes - Tomio san have 3 variants (one printed "Fur MG" (for Machine-Gun) and the other two on the pic) so now I've several boxes of each type!
And by the way the MG42 review - needs more time as the typhoon eventually missed HK and then some business dinner meetings last weekend...coming very soon I promise !
