I know this was asked awhile ago but what would a fare price to put on my mgc68 MP40. A chap is interested in buying it from me and I have never really thought about selling her but as they the money would come in handy. Pics of it can be seen in the mp40 registry. Thank You in advance..... Harold

Hello Harold!

Thanks very much for signing up, it's great knowing you'r still out there!

From what I've seen and read advertised on Retailers and Private sale ads' the MGC68 MP40s can command pretty high prices.

I've seen them offered (in fully functional good order) at anywhere from £550 to over a £1000.

Someone like Doc could probably give you an idea of what they actually change hands for over here in the UK though.
Mark will know US prices I should think.

Hi Harold,

Did you manage to finish restoring your MP40? Last posts I recall you were looking for a detonator pin?

As I understand it Harold is in Canada as seeing as they cannot import any MGCs anymore then his should hold pretty decent value .

same old rule applies is that something is worth what someone else will pay for it .

H . Do you have deacts over there ? if so what does a deact MP40 go for ( this is a good yard stick to begin with )

Well the last MP40 dewat I saw went for around $4000.00cdn. As for my mgc68MP40 I was offered $650.00cdn plus shipping and well sad to say she is now gone, she will be on her way to the land of OZ as soon as the buyer sets up the customs import papers. He has pre-paid for her which was nice. In a way I sad to see her go since I've had her since 1974. She's had a rough life(3 kidshave had fun with her) and I restored her to almost her original state.

I'd be very interested in how Customs will allow the MP40 to come into Australia, even though he is trying to do the correct paperwork.
It is very difficult to import anything that looks like a gun.

650 Cnd about £350 GBP ? I can well imagine the buyer has pre paid ...you can`t even get them in the UK for that and there are loads in circulation here .
But at the end of the day you are happy with the money and can put it to good use then thats all anyone can ask for really .

I`d also be interested to know how they get on importing into Oz as all I have read sugests it would be easier to milk a rock Shocked

Well yes they can...only if you're a registered theatrical armourer in Australia. They can only import the gun if that particular gun is essential for that particular movie and after the filming finishes the gun have to be sent back overseas immediately.

I shall dig that gun mag out (with the interviews of 2 theatrical armourers in Australia) and post it up here in case anybody's interested...and hopefully I haven't left it in Australia...

For the MGC MP40...it's very likely to land on the hand of the Customs because a sub-machine gun - whether it's real or fake - is now treated in the same manner (a Category E weapon) and no private collector shall be allow to import any new gun in this category.

Different story for the Kiwis...the New Zealand government is much more tolerant and I can still see real WWII surplus (full automatics included) actively turning up on the auctions. From what I've learnt, as long as the collectors don't shoot the gun, they can keep it without any permanent deactivation.

I shall buy it off from schultzsgt... Crying or Very sad

From what he has told me he has no problems getting it into the country. He did specify that I remove the folding stock because when he imported one of the plastic/metal ones customs removed and seized the stock and allowed the main part of the gun through. So that is what I have done at his request and ship the stock separately. Just waiting for him to tell me he has the customs docs done so I can ship the main gun part

Did the MP40 ever get sent, and have you had any feedback on how our Customs treated it?
