HAppy New Year all!
Why can't we get a custom made 3 prong flash hider for our Marushin M16A1 Vietnam.
Isn't the bird cage flash hider incorrect.
I see that Model Gun Collector over in the UK offers a custon front barrel for their model.
See it here http://www.modelguncollector.co.uk/index_ar.html

It seems the do not want to sell it seperately just with the purchase of a gun.

I always thought that you could get either for the marushin? I have certainly seen them with the three prong as standard, so maybe a factory version? I am sure that shazhib or Francky would be able to source one for you.

Marushin models always come with the birdcage style flash hider. All models with the three prong type are custom models, using Airsoft or real flash hiders. Some MGC models (early all zinc version, later ABS CP "Black Rifle Edition") come with the Vietnam style supressor.

By the way, Marushin is right using this A1 type birdcage flash hider on the A1 version as later versions of the A1 came with this type as the three prong type often broke apart or got clogged with dirt. The A2 version came with a birdcage flash hider that was closed on the bottom to prevent it from kicking up dirt when the shooter lays on the ground.

The early three prong flash suppressors bent/broke due to the soldiers using the prongs to remove the steel banding on the cases of rations. Also, the prongs caught on foliage when moving through the jungle. This and many other changes where made to the M16 later on.

As you know the flash hider and barrel is one part and is screwed into the front sight on the Marushin model. It is possible to machine the birdcage flash hider off and fit a real three prong flash hider, but it needs some skills. The three prong type is still available, from old military stocks or from gun dealers, as quite a few AR-15 shooters want to add the "classic look" to their AR-15s. Maybe Airsoft parts can fit too.

I would suggest you ask at modelguncollector, I found them always helpful and understanding, maybe they will sell you the barrel, but bear in mind that such custom made parts need a lot of work and aren't cheap. But it is worth a try I'd say.
