| It's pretty :-)
Japanese Type 100 was based on Bergmann MP18 mechanism (MP18 and MP28 were also used imported to Japan), but used 8mm Nambu cartridges and featured several changes, such as a folding bipod (not longer in later stages of war), bayonet mounting or using a curved magazine (different than stick and drum magazines for MP18). Visually it is similar, yet different.
I guess CAW did similar thing as was done with real weapons - they first released MP18 modelgun, then Type 100, likely reusing their experience and tooling.
Feldgrau - is there chance for more information? :-) It would be great if you could write your impressions, what you like, how are the details and so on :-)

| Hi all,
Concerning the Japanese Type 100 smg...let me first say that I'm very pleased with its fit and finish - impressive. After being able to compare the model gun Type 100 to the real weapon, I must say they are very, very close in detail but with a few minor differences. The model gun 100 field strips exactly like the original. The metal is super close in detail with the only differences being that the model gun's receiver is just a little shorter in length - but its very hard to tell unless they are laid side by side. Also in place of rivets on the real weapon, there are screws on the model. In my opinion, this model 100 is the next best thing to owning the "real deal". Its a fantastic example...
If anyone is considering acquiring one..I would not hesitate...
Best regards, "Feldgrau"

| Thank you feldgrau, it's great to know you are really happy with your Type 100. You're very fortunate to be able to compare the Modelgun with a real one, side by side. You can fully appreciate the accuracy, or not, as the case may be. It's clear your more than happy with this model. I would imagine this would be a rare model these days. You've done well to find it. Does this cycle dummy rounds manually? _________________ Cerwyn

| Hi Cerwyn,
Yes, I am quite pleased. The detail is incredible. This model will take a place in my real firearms collection. It will definitely draw attraction. As far as it " cycling"....yes...it functions/cycles just as the real one...

| Great to know these details! I agree with Cerwyn that many of us do not stand a chance to make such a comparison.
What got you interested in Type 100?

I stand corrected - this was done using Tanaka moulds and parts for Type 100, not ones modified from MP18.
