| Post by MT01 Hi, Not sure if this is appropriate for the forum, and this first time I've tried to post video - so please bear with. Also not sure if this vid has been posted before... The following is a vid of an AK47 (real live rounds I think???) being fired in slow motion on auto, but with the receiver cover off - showing the bolt assembly and hammer group in action. I really like the mechanics of firearms and so I thought I'd share this for like minded fellows, as it shows off the engineering quite well. Here goes: https://s162.photobucket.com/albums/t276/MT01/?action=view¤t=kalashnikov.flv By the way:- I can't recommend that anyone with an AK47 modelgun tries this as theres no telling what the receiver is actually holding in place (or providing addition structural support to..) in the modelgun version when it is being fired? | |

| Yep, a good find !Very interesting that, shows what a very simple mechanism it appears to be, and how effective too.
I bet the guy firng that was sh***ing himself wondering if firing it without the cover on was a wise idea!
Have you found anymore vids like this one?

| Post by MT01 Ha Ha!, Yep guys - the slow motion makes this look kind of casual. Completely hides the fact that fella was probably cacking himself like you say!! Unfortunately don't have any more vids like this one - not sure how many more weapons could be fired without the receiver cover. The only one I can thing of is the Stery TMP submachine gun. I'll keep looking though | |

| Post by InEvasion That was a most excellent video, thanks for sharing. I too appreciate the precision mechanisms/ergonomics that fill the machines. | |

| Post by Pydracor Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. There are more nice pics (a .223 round destroying an orange e.g.) and videos on the homepage this came from, www.kurzzeit.com , a german firm developing high speed measuring system, high speed cameras and such. A "medley" of firing guns filmed with high speed cameras: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0VjdI_S_HM The AK video also reminded me of the "AK-Kaching" scene from "Lord of War": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvJEfl99aHU In case you haven't seen the movie: watch it, and I don't say that, because it's all about guns (though it IS a big plus ), it's just an amazing movie | |

| Post by figaro http://www.kurzzeit.com/ Excellent site, good find, I have just contacted them about licensing footage, thank you. Imagine the lights needed to shoot at a million feet per second, I have shot with the photosonics cameras (1000 or so fps), and the actors literally have to step into the light at the last possible moment as it's so hot, they take 400 feet of film just to get up to speed, that's usually a whole mag (11 minutes) in a regular 35mm Arriflex. Video really is the way to go for hi-speed, I have just never seen this technology, although I heard they were using a video for the hi-speed stuff on CSI. _________________ www.thebutcher-movie.com | |

| Post by MT01 Nice one!! - These slow-mo videos are so cool. Such 'simple' mechanisms working so effortlessly. Yet you can see how much force is being exerted by the fact the shooters stuggle with the recoil (though in fairness it's not good to grip too hard when target shooting). Have watched the clip and will definitely be looking out for the movie. Thanks for the links | |
