| Post by figaro Recently wrapped production on a gun heavy movie. We had Springfield USA custom plate four 1911A1's with a Titanium gold finish, it ended up costing about twice what the actual guns did. But we were told gold plating would flake after forty or fifty full flash .45 blanks-- we burned through a lot more than that. The hero/protagonist also carries an 1897 Winchester, which we slammed fired a lot. Quite an experience with full load 12 gauge. Not shown in the pictures is a 1919A4 which we used for the final shoot out. This is a really wild ride with 30-06 in a small strip club. OK, now for the shameless promotion, the film is The Butcher, I truly hope I get a limited theatrical run on this one. It would be my first, i worked my ass off on the shoot. But, if I don't buy it or rent it, next year. Cheers and thank you for looking. Jesse. (There is one full auto MP40 scene, I had to put it in, the one firing is an adapted original (transferable) Erma that my friend owns, but when the guy that shoots it in the movie has his head, er, atomized, he (or the headless dummy) falls to the ground with my MGC tahnkfully undamaged.) can't work out how to level the first pic, hmm. _________________ www.thebutcher-movie.comLast edited by figaro on Sat Dec 16, 2006 6:28 am; edited 1 time in total | |

| Post by figaro Some more fun gun picks. Mr. Roberts rested the two 1911's on the roof of the Charger when he fired over it, the scratches went down to the white, take note you don't do the same when protecting your own original paint muscle car. Also, interesting in the still is the effect the shotgun exit wound squib is having on the Stunt dogs pony tail, blown upright, the .45 Thompson he's shooting is a transferable real one, first time I've got one that worked every time with blanks, I've tried renting three times before. By the way, the style of the film is a throw back to the 1970's crime film genre (Point Blank, Madigan, etc, I even have Geoffrey Lewis from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot playing a gun dealer) hence all the period iron work. We didn't want anything post 1970, it'll make sense when you see the movie, which I hope you all will (there's the promotion part again, sorry Mark...). _________________ www.thebutcher-movie.com | |

| Post by figaro Next year for the US. UK, possibly early 2008. Difficult to say. Selling these things is not a finite business. _________________ www.thebutcher-movie.com | |

| Post by Claymore Looks good, i like the 70's feel to certain style's of movies, the last 2 dirty harry movies lost a lot of that feel and were not as good, well in my opinion, you have some good actors in it as well, Eric Roberts we obviously know and the other guy by his side i know well just dont know his name, always plays a good bad guy. Good to see some older guns being used specially the thompson, pity its not going to be available for us until 08, although if it comes out on DVD in the states before that we could pick it up which is probably our best bet | |

| Post by Mark Cool! Yes, thanks for the pictures and the information on your new movie!
It sounds like a good one and I think that it will do well at the box office. Spencerman brings up a good point about the portrayed firearms screenplay. I have seen tons of movies, both good and bad where the actors had no clue of how a gun is actually fired. And, my pet peeve, the endless ammunition gunfights with no magazine changes etc. I know, continuity problems, scene problems, inexperience, scripts etc come into play during filming that may preclude magazine changes...But, nothing but nothing, is more distracting than a 800 round Thompson etc.
Countless Bond or other action films have almost made me yell out loud at the screen after Bond or the good guy takes the submachinegun off of the dead bad guy (that had just fired over 2-300 rnds at him ineffectually) and then take off with it without checking the bad guy for spare magazines! _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by figaro Mike: Your luger is in this film, don't worry didn't fire it. Richard Jones: Your MP40 is also in the picture. Fight designer: I hear you, my first films were all self financed, this is the first time I've had anywhere near a budget to speak of, hence my concern at it doing well. As to my blank budget, it does run on the high side. Bigshot: I am proud of Pit Fighter, but 2.99 seems about as much as you should spend on it, lol. 13 day shoot what can I say. Mark: For "Butcher" I had Mark Stefanich, take the key cast through a week or so of drills on a private range, he was an originator of SEAL Team 6, and quite a character, check him on imdb.com. The guys got quite into the technical aspects. As to reloading between bursts, I am shooting pick-ups right now, so I will be sure to make sure I get all those inserts of mags reloading, thank you for your input, gang. _________________ www.thebutcher-movie.com | |

| Post by fightdesiger What exactly is your role(s) in the production, and how much control do you have over those editing decisions?
I'm always a little bummed at what I know got filmed but never makes it into the finished product on a film. Occasionally I'm even justified, but certainly not always; One such gag I got to see in some outtakes they tacked on to the end of one of the cuts of a film. It was a gag where the (anti)hero takes his shotgun, rams the barrel straight through a thug's torso, picks the guy up and uses his still twitching body as a shield while continuing to fire his shotgun. I had a couple inches of barrel rigged to stick out the guy's lower back and fire off some flash cotton loads, and a plastic shotgun cut down to be the front part, and we'd built an A-frame support to suspend the guy. As far as I could tell while on set, it'd worked awesomly every take but one, where the half hour dry spraypaint touchups I'd done to the fake barrel end caught fire for a moment (oops).
In the outtakes, it's viewed in profile, and it's painfully obvious that they didn't match the angles right, so it looks like the barrel got bent about 30 degrees when it was rammed through the guy.
Oops. _________________ Freelance hack... and slash, and gun.

| Post by InEvasion I'm sorry to post so long after it was originally posted, I'm new to these here parts Must say, this film looks like it will be excellent. I miss films that focus on raw action instead of a million special effects, which seem so over-used now. I have seen the actors in the first still in many films and have been impressed with their work. Also not shown is Bokeem Woodbine, who I feel delivers powerful and intense film performances. I truly look forward to seeing this and if you could inform when its being released I would appreciate it. Love the 2 Gold Colts too. | |

| Post by InEvasion I remember Bokeem in a film I saw handling the weapons with familiarity and realism, so its good to hear he is actually keen on them.
Thanks for the stills, I especially like the flak jackets and shoulder holsters and the girls.
