| I agree - that is a nice looking storage setup you have. I may have to look into something similar for my unboxed uzi's! | |

| You are very lucky with your UZI as they fire not more than a few rounds without problems in general, although they are reworked or even modified to use MGC carts. A really nice piece. Glad to have you here on the forum too, mate! | |

| Some photos of my recently acquired UZI - in need of some TLC - but posted before I start stripping and cleaning - using the great references here on the Forum: Some minor corrosion & rust - as can be seen in the photos. | You're right Cerwn, the Marushin Uzi is a fine replica, and it seems from what I've read they improved on its blow-back design along the way. Pity about the ABS plastic trigger housing evolving, but i guess that's in response to law changes(?).' ' I found your repairs post very useful; I've already got the top cover ready to paint! I used my girlfriend's Nail Polish remover (acetone) to remove the black paint, then progressively sanded with wet 'n dry paper, finishing with steel wool. ' ' The main receiver is a major job by comparison. So it way be a week or so before I have the whole Uzi completed! Can't decide if it should be black - or Parkerized grey!??? ' ' I'll post the end result in due course! Any thoughts? Kiwigunner

| Decided that Black was easier than trying a Grey Parkerizing finish ....so here it is in its new livery: Well worth the effort! Kiwigunner | |

| Rocking that is one sweet looking UZI - that looks very like the finish the civilian carbines had when they were new in the 1980's, really nice, much cooler than the military finish I have on my Hebrew version. Well done.

| Thanks pitfighter. Appreciate the comment. Just before I did the reassembly of my Uzi I got the chance to handle a real one at a local Gun Show ten days ago. It was a Parkerized Israeli version. Nice machine gun! At first I was surprised at HOW heavy it was being familiar with the Marushin, then realised steel is heaver than zinc or aluminum/aluminium! Duh! But it showed me what a great job Marushin had done with their replica, and I'm proud to own one. I've put a German army sling on mine now -different colour to an Israeli Army one. Kiwigunner | |

| Here is a pic of my Hebrew Semi (bottom right of pic, with semi slot in bolt), built on Israeli parts, below the Marushin metal replica, that is now sold. The semi is a sensationally accurate shooter with live ammo, and as long as the blanks are very hot, it is good with blanks, too. One of my favorite silly pastimes is showing it to the shooting range "know it alls", who make fun of it, based upon their encyclopedia like-knowledge of all things internet. Then shooting the living daylight out of their range scores and then for fun, rolling the target down to the butts and continuing to group competitively. Yes, the open bolt SMG was probably not so accurate, but as a well built semi, with a great stock, it is unbeatable, in my book. | |

| You guys don't have to permanently-modified your guns in the US (i.e. able to switch to live/blank)? We in HK unfortunately have to do so because the only reason for these guns hanging around in HK is for movie productions only ... Again - the Marushin Uzi is really unbeatable (being a toy) especially the early full-metal version... | |

I doubt it - Hudson's zinc-made AK47 is 1kg more heavier (and fatter) than the real deal for some reason...to my surprise as well when I compared both in my local prop gun supplier...in this regard, recently released GBB AKs are actually closer to the real thing...

| Hi Jim,
To have the short barrel on the UZI - less than sixteen inches - the blank firing attachment did have to be permanently welded in place, we also drilled and tapped two 4mm rods through the barrel and welded those in place. It would an unregistered short barreled rifle otherwise, the extra back pressure produced by the rods helps it cycle anyway, that heavy semi bolt and spring is a pig.
I have the 16 inch UZI Carbine live barrel for range shooting, with the UZI it is a very quick barrel change, and a fake silencer covers that odd looking barrel. My rifles with barrels over 16 inches can be left unaltered, however, I leave them all blank adapted, unless there is a range visit, and then check and double check that the adapter has been removed - you have to be very careful for your own safety, I tend to keep certain guns for film work and others for live fire, and tend not to mix them up unless a special call comes in.
I have quite a few AK's; theoretically the stamped receiver version is called an AKM (though no one seems to make that distinction) and it is a little lighter than the milled steel receiver on the older (though they are now newly manufactured here) AK47's. The Hudson is about the same weight as the milled steel receiver AK47.
The Marushin all metal UZI is lighter than the real one, but as you can see from the pics it is an awesome replica, I am sorry to have sold mine, but the $'s went to an even cooler gun project, and how many UZI's does a man really need? OK wrong crowd to ask that question, lol.
