Hudson PPSh-41 - Vented Barrel Empty
PostSubject: Hudson PPSh-41 - Vented Barrel   Hudson PPSh-41 - Vented Barrel Icon_minitimeFri Oct 17, 2008 11:56 am

The latest PPSh-41s Hudson produce don't have the gas-bypass system from Det. chamber through to the barrel which is a shame as nothing beats the effect of a smokin' barell does it?

The castings look as if they might be able to be be modified though so would anyone have some photos please of the gas by-pass arrangement on their old spec PPSh?

Also I've found mine tends to clog up the Detonator Chamber with thick soot and residue after only 30-35 rounds.
Has anyone tried drilling venting holes in the chamber to allow soot and smoke to blow out and clear?
Did it help at all?

Hiya Cerwyn,

As it happens i have the old spec.ppsh so here are a few pics to show you the bypass set up.You will also have to have the open chamber and barrel for it to work .
Have a look and see what you think

Thanks Kickback Exclamation

That's a great help mate, thank you.

I'll have to double check the barrel's open down as far as where the by-pass set up is first.

I think the castings are still on the new model to accept the by-pass plate

Hudson PPSh-41 - Vented Barrel PICT0386 but I'll need to triple check as these projects never quite work out as easy as I first thought do they Question Exclamation

I wonder too if Hudson still supply spare parts (by-pass plate) or whether I'd need to look at getting one made Question scratch

Thanks again mate

Hi Guys,
Just to let you know the misses has two of these one is the older version, I recently converted the newer one and it was really easy.

The newer one I have still had the by-pass plate but not the correct chamber, but was simple enough to mod.

I haven’t had a chance to test it fully, as I am in the middle of fitting a bolt to the gun. Once I have got it up and running nicely I will let you know how well it works.

All the best to you,

Cheers, Ollie

Hello Ollie,

Welcome to the Forums! It's a pleasure to welcome you aboard Very Happy

Great to hear too that your missus has an interest in modelguns too cheers Doesn't half make life a bit easier eh Question Wink

Please do keep us posted how your conversion goes. I haven't had time to look at mine since posting the original question but it is most definately a job I'd like to do.
Too many other modelguns to play with Wink

I've got a genuine 71rd drum that's been modified to fit the Hudson model but again, haven't had much time to sort it out for reliable feeding. The standard drum runs great now but I have this urge to try firing 71 in one or two bursts Wink
Have you one any work on magazines for yours Question
