Great models and photos here! I really enjoy them. Is the first sniper rifle a MGC model too? I realise it is in .308, so most parts are different from the standard M4 series ...

I also realized that you have two different lower receivers which can be told by the front lugs. MGC used the "A1" design on early M4A1 models as well as their M-725 series, but changed to the later "A2" design on their later M4A1 models and M733.

Thanks for the feed back.. its good to hear that from another AR and (SR)? fan.
The SR 25 is still in working progress.. i've got to lengthen the bolt and i had to
lengthen the receiver by 18mm for the 7.62 mag, unfortunatly it will only be able
to use the 5.56 rounds as it would be hard for me to make a new breach. as well as
trying to find PF 7.62 rounds. But i'm happy with the externals of the rifle. At the moment
i'm working on my other SR 25K tweaking the internals....!

Thanks for adding those! I have seen them on the internet before. I guess this site helped to start my AR-15 fever. I think I will have some nice models to add in the future ...

Hi Madmike,

The shotgun attachment is an old maruzen gas blow back that i had. I just removed the gas chamber
from the hand grip and made a new one that is located in the hand guard. You should be able to see
the pipe that runs to the shotgun. But it works well with the cartridge loading and ejection, also it feels
good when firing.

Shotgun is an interesting concept, it makes the model look more like a special prop for a movie.

I found an interesting article about the MGC M4A1 while browsing the net. It says it is a SNM, what means Shin Nihon Mokai (NewMGC). It must be an early MGC M4A1 version, as the model still features the old M16A1-style lugs on the lower receiver. The colour is odd, as the early M4A1 came in a greyish colour (natural HW finish). The stock looks like it is a HW stock, used on a limited M725 series in the mid 1990s, or it was repainted to a nice dull finish. The standard stock MGC used was shiny black ABS plastic.

I higly recommend this model if you do not yet have a M16/M4 style modelgun. Despite being plastic it has a nice and realistic look and feel.

I feel that M-series rifles are slowly growing on me. These pictures show them really nice, I like how model and parts are arranged.

MadMike, do you think you could write a summary of M16/4 models available as modelguns?
There has been quite a few variants released by MGC and Marushin, I still can't put it all together to see what is/isn't covered.

I should be able to do that, but would need some time.

To put it short:

Marushin:

M16A1 Rifle
XM177E2 Carbine (retractable stock)
M655 Carbine (fixed stock)

These are full metal (aluminum), available as kits or assembled models (in a greenish, odd finish). There are also old, factory assembled models from the time frame 1980 - 1983. These came with heavier bolts and 30 rd aluminum magazines. See pics.









"Old" MGC:

M16A1/E1 and CAR 15 full metal models, old paper cap style. Not as realistic as current models, but very heavy. Need reworking to fire current caps though. M16 was often used as prop gun in 1980s movies (Full Metal Jacket).

"New" MGC:

A lot of different M16A1 Carbines and rifles, all ABS plastic. Quite light and shiny, but very reliable when it comes to firing. My favourite gun toi fire, as the later HW models tend to break due to the brittle HW material.



"New new" MGC:

All HW plastic, very realistic weight and feel.

M725 M16A2 Carbine, fixed carry handle, A1 style rear sight(3 versions, black (early) and later grey)

M4A1 Carbine, detachable carry handle (3 versions: grey (early), black and grey (last edition))

M4A1 Commando, short 11,5 inch barrel, cut-off carry handle

M4A1 Carbine RIS, with CAW Rail Interface System, very limited version made in late 2006/early 2007

M733 M16A2 Commando, fixed carry handle, A2 style rear sight, "Black Hawk Down" type, limited Sept. 2006 production.
