Well, it's a sad day.
Today was the first day I was really going to get to spend some time with my new guns - the weekend was too busy. I had fired only 2 caps in it when I first got it just to check it out. I loaded another 2 today to try to capture some images of ejecting shells...
well....
I'm not sure on which round, but I suspect the 2nd, the metal ejector arm snapped. It's a piece of composite metal that looks like it had an air bubble in it. The ejector arm is in part of the firing pin assembly that looks to be non-user serviceable (well, the manual doesn't show it being removed from the slide, even in the exploded parts view).
I just sent an email to Den, I hope they can do something.
Anyone else with sigs have troubles with them, namely around the extractor arm?
-T

| Post by Mark Tony, do you mean the extractor broke? The ejector is mounted on the frame not the slide.
If the part is not too complicated I can fabricate a new steel piece if you are not successful with your parts quest.
Let me know if you are successful on the replacement parts or not.

| Post by Tancor Hi Mark,
It is the extractor - sorry, wrong term in previous post.
My big problem is trying to figure out how to get the section of the slide where the ejector is apart in order to remove the damaged ejector. A steel one would be really nice, but I have no idea how to take it apart - I thought there was a retaining pin, but I can't seem to get the pin to budge and I'm nervous about putting too much pressure on the pin I think needs to come out. I'm thinking there is another part in there that needs to be yanked first...

| Post by Mark Tony, I don't have a picture of the Tanaka 226 parts list so if you can post a picture I would like to see it.
Then, I could help to figure it out.

| Post by TancorI'm not sure if this is the image you are looking for, but, here is the slide exploded view - as you can see, the entire chamber that holds the firing pin, is not broken out of the slide... it's like they don't want anyone to mess with it. -Tony | |

| Post by Mark Humm, Wow, they don't want anyone messing with the slide assy don't they?
I think that the "firing pin" block with the extractor is glued into the slide assy to prevent replacing the plastic/zinc firing pin with a real pin in order to convert it to fire real cartridges..
Well, since I don't have a Tanaka Sig 226 I can't give you any tips on how to remove the firing pin block assy.
The picture of course, doesn't give any clue so, I think that the slide would have to be replaced by Tanaka in order to replace the extractor!
If Tanaka would do that it would be great but, I don't think that they will.

| Post by John Same to the Tanaka USP ! Its firing pin block is also hard glued to the slide. If I can remove the firing pin block from the slide, I could then replace the HW slide with the metal slide (the metal slide for Tanaka USP airsoft looks very close to the modelgun one). I could use force to hammer the block out but it will surely ruin the whole block with scratch which I don't want. Could anyone have any suggestion ? Or can I just buy the USP firing pin block from Japan? | |

| Post By rizzo You may want to email www.gunsnguys.com as they do a metal slided Tanaka USP. Ask them how they did it | |

| Post by John This would be their commercial secret. I also think I could try to take the pin block out by breaking the HW slide into pieces. But it would be a pity to the brand new slide and I still don't have the confidence not to scratch or damage it. | |
