| Post by richard jones Just bought a used Garand and it will not eject the empty clip after the last round. Is this a common problem or just bad luck or a part damaged or worn? | |

| Post by Mark Hmm,
A Hudson M1 Garand modelgun?? Does this fire 7mm or 5mm caps? or is it a display only? The clip is retained by an zinc alloy catch that can wear over time as the clip itself is stamped steel. The follower mech. is also prone to wear over many ejection cycles (just like the real M1) and that can cause problems like you are experiencing. You might try to contact forum member "Francky1958" for replacement parts. But, as the Hudson M1 is out of production the parts might be hard to get at this point. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by richard jones It is a display gun that cycles and ejects full size rounds,it will eject a part full clip but not an empty one. | |

Thanks for the clarification on the M1. Its amazing that the display only modelguns wear as much as they do. I would say that it is a problem with the follower wear point(s) these control the last shot hold open mech. These tend to wear the most as I believe that Hudson uses zinc components in this area. ( I unfortunately don't have one of these M1's to look at) _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

Not that it realy matters as its not every day you want to cycle the rounds but is always nice to get everything working properly.A lot of these zinc/cast components do wear out easily-shame as its a fantastic replica and a bloody heavy one at that!!!! I have contacted everyone i know of asking about spares(including francky)and am waiting for any responses. | |

Yes, it is a shame that the parts do wear on these so fast. But, they are made this way on purpose due to Japanese law(s) Now, some of these parts don't need to be made out of poor materials. The manufacturer usually makes them with zinc or other easilly wearing materials due to cost or other reasons which is a shame..
If the parts are available, it would be a good idea to lubricate them at all times to ensure that they last longer after they are replaced. You might in fact try to lubricate the assy as it is now, and see if it helps. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Just a thought, but would real Garand parts fit if they were available? I'm thinking maybe reenactement groups could supply real ejectors?

| Post by Mark I really don't think that any real Garand parts other than a stock will fit/work on a Hudson M1 as the Hudsons diameters are either smaller/larger on purpose to prevent any "bad thoughts"...
As for parts availability from the U.S. we are prevented by law from selling any firearms parts without the proper export paperwork that is dificult and expensive to do especially any small parts etc. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Mark The mostly bad dealings with Hudson tell an interesting story..I wonder if Hudson cares about servicing their older modelguns as they seem very reluctant to sell or even have in stock, spare parts for their recent modelguns. A while ago, I ordered a spare Hudson, (late model) Sten bolt. I tried to place the extractor assy into the (new in the wrap) replacement bolt but I discovered that the factory had off set drilled the extractor pin holes!
Hudson has to their credit, started lately to make their modelguns a little better and they have fixed many of their somewhat notoriously bad modelguns like the Tokerev. Still, Hudson seems to be hard to deal with as far as the replacement parts go. I am not sure where you can get the M1 parts that you need at this time. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)
