| This is something that you don't quite see anywhere - a rare CMC model of Sten MkII is available on auction. Starting price is a very affordable (especially for such a model) 75000 yen: http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/138399947EDIT: auction ended at 77000 with just 3 bidders. This is probably the best modelgun Sten, made of steel in early 70s, just before the ban. I think that Francky used to have one. Interesting that it is equipped with a bayonet mount. The same seller also has a metal CMC Colt 1911, yet another rare piece with cap blowback action: http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w52929305Starting price 120 000 yen.

| I May be wrong (often am ) But is it not the case that a model of that type (ie its construction, steel, some alloy, and "straight" venting barrel (over firing pin, no bypass route) is only legal for possession in Japan and not able to be sold ???? I probably am wrong but if one of our Japanese friends or anyone who understands these issues could explain I would be grateful. Cheers | |

| $862.00 that seems quite expensive, but I haven't seen one of these before so perhaps it isn't.
Wonder if the hi-power it's photographed with is all metal, too?
Nice, I would like one.

| Auctions like this are usually stopped early ( by Yahoo ) as items of this type are prohibited from sale under the gun/sword law.
Its due to the Steel construction.
shame as the CMC MKII is a very strong model

| Nakata produced a metal (zinc-something) Browning HP in the early days: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~yon-yon/cgi/nakata/hi-power/index.htmlFrom a practicel point of view 860$ seems expensive for a Sten model, you can get a dummy one for 100$ and Hudson for ~500$. However this is a very rare model, especially after it was forbidden to produce in Japan due to its steel construction, same as MGC Sten MKIII, MP40 and Sterling. CMC version was the strongest, as it had the thickest steel. A lot of value is in its collectability. | |
