| MGC67 P38 Walther
Back in 1975 I bought one like this for NZ$45 !! It was stolen in a burglary and I've wanted one ever since. Being a bit like hen's teeth (very few and far between) it's taken until NOW to have one to cross my path again (for NZ$130)!! Thought members might be interested also in this model, which is dummy version. I think its action is called Tanio-action: when you pull the trigger the slide moves back and slams forwards. The hammer can NOT be cocked!
It has a missing return spring and piston, which I shall make soon, so until then I use gravity to return the slide.(Apologies for the bits of cotton thread from my cleaning rag that are in the photos!) (Note: the hammer does not cock or lock!)I have P38's in the following versions: Marushin P38 PFC Maruzen P38 Gas Blow Back and a Bruni P38 Blank firer as well as a host of PPK and PPK/s pistols. I just like Walther pistols I guess.

| One question John - do you deliberately alter your photos to these kind-of "vintage" effect? Love it ... By the way - got the dummy Marushin P38 military last Sunday - not as bad as I thought...and now eagerly waiting for the Commercial one (due this week)... | |

| Look forward to hearing what you think of the new Dummy P38's! I just might have to buy one if you think they're ok!
Re the photos: I clean the guns witha cotton cloth then lightly oil with mineral oil (for metal) or silicone oil (for plastic). Then photograph outside with a flash. The resulting picture is a bit "washed out", and I adjust the brightness (not contrast) in a photoshop program, until I'm satisfied with the detail clarity.
I guess my intention is to show as much detail in the photos as possible so members can compare with their guns!
Glad you like the look; but I can post "au naturelle" photos if you prefer for comparison??

| I bought some new grips some years back to fit one of my two P38s, and they didn't fit. Now I know which P38 it suits. | |

| I have a couple of these too. When I first got them, (used) I spent a hour with one disassembled trying to figure out what was broken or missing since they didn’t cock! LOL. Until I read your post, I thought I was losing my mechanical aptitude for firearm mechanisms! Thanks | |

| Hi Fearless. Glad it helped out. ' ' They're quite nice replicas for the age and the time - and I guess because an MGC P38 was my FIRST modelgun replica I ever bought I kinda have an attachment to them! I've just been making a display case for German WW2 pistols! When finished I'll post a pic or two. Keep up your good work! KiwigunnerFinally made a case fro my WW2 Guns. Here's the link in the Forum: https://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/t971-custom-cases?highlight=cases

| Hi I'm new to the forum and had many of these mgc replicas in the past , I sold all of them some time ago with the exception of my incomplete p-38 which I had as a child , I'm interested in getting a few of these replicas back again as well as complete my P-38
I am missing a few parts on the P-38
The left side (non swastika) grip
Safety lever
Slide stop
I wanted to as would an original grip , saftey and stop fit on it?
Is there a classified section of for sale items , or graveyard junker section?
any online dealers specialize on these or parts?
Thank you for your time and help AJ | |
