| Hi Guys - just a first post to say hello to you all, as I am the new boy!
I found this forum while checking out MP40 vids on You Tube.
I have a heavyweight Marushin MP40 bought about a year ago from Modelguns Worldwide.
What a fantastic gun - I am very impressed with the build quality and authentic look of this classic gun - Is it the best looking SMG ever made?
As a teenager I got into WW2 military modelling in a big way and became a fan of everything German, as they had the best equipment - and the iconic MP40 summed it all up.
When I was about 14, I wanted a Japanese replica MP40 which you could buy completely made of metal - this was before all the laws came in to stop them, as they could be converted to fire live rounds.......I can't remember what company made them.......... my dad went ballistic as well and said no way anyway!!!!!!
I'm now 50 and finally have an MP40 - only finding out about PFC replicas while looking on the net finding out about decomissioned guns - £3k for a good MP40 now!!!!!!!! I also bought a genuine sling from a specialist at this years War & Peace Show in Kent.
I have printed off the Engilsh version of the instructions from this forum, which is great, as Modelguns Worldwide said they were not available...... The supplied instructions are pretty clear even if the text is Japanese, but the English makes a few things a bit clearer - especially hoiw the get the firing pin out to clean!
Does anybody have feedback about Modelguns Worldwide, as I have had very good service from them, with very fast delivery. Also, do we know when they are back up and running (family tradegy apparantly closed them since about March......)
I am after a Marushin UZI and was about to buy one from them when they closed......
I have now contacted PFCG UK to source one - or does anyone on this forum want to sell one?
Sorry to go on a bit, buy I thought you might like to know a bit about me.
Kezza
PS - Kraftwerk rock !!!!!!!

| Hi Kezza, and welcome to the forum I also came across modelguns after looking around the web at deactivated guns and have never looked back as it's great to have a toy that you can strip and fire (although with caps) instead of a welded up paperweight I've not personally used modelguns worldwide (a few of the members have) and it's sad that it's been down for so long But here is a list of other suppliers that might be able to help out https://mp40modelguns.forumotion.net/buy-sell-modelguns-parts-cartridges-f8/where-can-i-buy-from-t81.htmJust be careful of your wallet as this hobby can empty it quicker than anything known to man 8ace | |

| Welcome indeed to the forum Kezza, it's a real pleasure to have you here in our midst. My first modelgun was a Marushin MP40 too, but the earlier abs type. It was, and still is a superb modelgun and was responsible for my addiction to this fascinating hobby. My collection has grown quite a bit since buying that first MP40 I also bought my first few models from Modelguns-Worldwide, or Modelguns.co.uk as they were before they moved to France. I was very happy with the service I received from them, the only dissapointment being they refused to sell me any spare parts and accessories for models I'd bought elsewhere. Having spent a considerable amount of money buying models from them I found that suprising but luckily there are other sources and dealers that are more than happy to provide great service. There's no news of Modelguns-Worldwide's return which is rather worrying. Having dealt with the owner so often I hope that all is well with him and his family. An emergency taking this long to resolve must be serious indeed. You mention PlugFireCapGuns.UK in your introduction, they're a supplier I've had the pleasure of dealing with more than once. Highly recommended as a friendly and helpful dealer You will be, or certainly should be aware of the VCRA legislation regulating sales of Replica guns to the public here in the UK. You must be either a Re-enactor, Airsoft skirmisher, in the Film/Tv industry etc to legally buy a replica. PFC Modelguns fall into this category. The full details are explained elsewhere in the forums' pages. If you buy a Marushin UZI, yet another superb modelgun by the way, from a UK dealer or privately, you must provide proof of membership of Re-enactment groups or Airsoft sites otherwise the seller cannot legally sell you a replica gun.Be careful of buying from overseas, even within the EU, if you're not legally eligible to be exempt from prosecution yourself. HM Customs will stop parcels coming into the UK and contact you directly asking why you're importing a restricted item. If you've all the necessary documents they'll vet them and verify, but if you don't they'll sieze the item and you'll lose it and your money. I'm sorry if all this sounds a bit heavy Kezza, but I'd hate to see you end up in deep trouble because you weren't made aware of the Law these days. On a happier note, you're entering a fascinating hobby that is shared by like-minded folks Worldwide. This forum has a great membership always keen and willing to help you get the most from your modelguns. The warnings about this hobby emptying your wallet faster than anything you've known before are all absolutely true, enjoy spending it _________________ Cerwyn

| Thanks for all the replies and warnings guys. I had a long conversation with John at PFCGUK today and he updated me in full about all of the current legislation.
Looks like I might be joining a re-enactmewnt group PDQ!

| Welcom to the forum :-) Good to read that your oddyssey ended with an MP40 after all these years :-) I hope other models will also give you hapiness, provided you are aware of some downfalls as well Modelguns Worldwide used to be a good shop while it was open. I got my first model from there. Pricey, not selling spare parts, but other than that service was quite good. I have no idea what happened with them. One good sign is that domain has been recently renewed for another year by the owner. And yes, beware, modelguns are a time and wallet stealer ;-) | |

| Welcome mate many of us here or in our later yrs lets be honest only us old guys can afford these rather expensive toys. the marushin mp40 was an excellent start it performs extremley well which is not the case for all modelguns. Yes you will need to become a reenactor there is group i can suggest who are very friendly relaxed fun and most old and incapable of jumping walls ( a certain member of this forum will know what i mean) any way welcome. | |
