Thanks to security risks, bomb scares, terrorist attacks on aircraft, especially since the recent explosive device found in a Printer cartridge incident, Japan Post have indeed put a stop to exporting caps, fireworks, batteries and Printer toner cartridges from Japan. The implications to our hobby are obvious, no caps = no firing I'm sure that UK dealers / retailers as well as Japanese wholesalers and exporters are doing all they can to find a sollution to this problem. And I'm sure they'll let us know what they can resolve in due course. The fact that Japan manufactures batteries and Printer cartridges, both huge markets, should help push to find a workable and safe means of shipping these "dangerous" goods. Meanwhile, we've two Retailers here in the UK who should be able to supply caps: www.plugfirecapgunsuk.com and www.modelguncollector.com

| Expect the price of the caps to jump from $4.20 to ~$8.00 when the problem solves (after all the extra precautions / special arrangements / government red tape...)...and only if this can be solved ... | |

| Brand new guy here. Just got and assembled an Enfield No.2 MkI. But... I don't have 7mm caps! Now Japan can't ship - nice intro to modelguns! So... I'm on the prowl for caps that can be sent to Canada. I've already emailed a couple of you, and I've sent a message to PlugFireCapGunsUK. Here's hoping! | |

The price of caps is, without a doubt, going to increase. Retail prices here in the UK have been as high as £7.00 per 100 for the last 6 years.Buying direct from Japan at US$4.20 (about £3.50) + shipping made buying them by the thousand very economic. It did save us a lot of money. Once this export and shipping from Japan problem is solved, we'll be paying more for our caps which is going to be painful but at least we'll have caps to buy and use (we hope) _________________ Cerwyn

Hello again Brock, You were, unfortunately, very unlucky to receive your model Enfield just before the shutters came crashing down on exporting caps from Japan. I'm sure all is not lost though, the contacts I gave you should, hopefully, be able to help youDo you know if there are any restrictions regarding importing caps into Canada _________________ Cerwyn

| Alright!!! I'm getting 200 7mm caps from PlugFireCapGunsUK. (That's all they can send due to shortages.) I haven't contacted Canadian Border Services about importing. I'd rather not raise a red flag myself. And, I did just receive 500 5mm caps about 4 days ago. (I was accidentally sent the wrong size.) So, I should be ok for the production needing this gun. I also found if I trim the plastic collar off the 5mm's with tiny scissors, so it's almost a flat cap instead of a cup, I can get the gun to fire with these. Even if the 7mm's don't make it here, it looks like the show will go on!! | |

| Just in the process of buying some more 7mils from a forum member. I sure am glad I joined this site! Thanks everyone!! Just so you know what I'm working on... I'm doing Fight Direction and supplying the gun for a production of "An Act of the Imagination" by Bernard Slade. It's a mystery-thriller by a Canadian playwright. A character in the play served with the British Military in WWII, and still has his service revolver. Hence the need for an Enfield No.2 MkI. And, it needs to be loaded and unloaded, and live-fire on stage. A perfect example of the need for a modelgun! (Damn to hell all the terrorist reactionaries trying to stop theatre! I don't want to rob a Kwik-E-Mart, I want to put on a show!) Thanks again all! | |
