Hello guys,

It's an essential question : How do you remove the firing pin to clean a model gun???
The metal bar in the barrel stops every item to push the firing pin by the front, so how can we remove the firing pin without damaging???

I add in a pistol model gun , we can remove the barrel but in a revolver (colt saa for exemple) you have to remove the cylinder and clean the barrel but the question is with which item????

Thanks for all yours ideas Smile

Wink

Hi Momo'

Good questions Exclamation

Detonator Pins can often be recessed quite a long way inside pistol barrel det.chambers so attempts to remove from the chamber end can be almost impossible.
The metal bar down the length of the barrel stops you pushing anything too big up the barrel.

Automatic Pistols:

My preferred method is to first immerse the barrel in White Vinegar / Warm water and Bicarbonate of Soda to remove some of the residue, then rinse with warm water under the tap (faucet). After removing any grub screw locking the pin in place, I have a 2mm diameter brass rod that can be carefully pushed up the barrel along the metal bar. By holding the barrel up towards light I can guide the rod to the Pin and then firmly push.

Repeat White Vinegar / Warm watr / Bicarb of Soda bath in an Ultrasonic cleaner. Scrub the Chamber and Barrel with a Mascara Brush then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Revolvers:

Remove the cylinder and immerse in White Vinegar / Bicarb of Soda / Warm water preferrably in a Ultrasonic cleaner. Scub each chamber with a brush then rinse under the tap.
The Barrel cannot be removed so I first scrub the inside with the brush dipped in Vinegar/Bicarb solution, then carefully run warm water throuh the barrel uner the tap. Try to avoid letting water run into the frame of the gun or you'll have to strip everything to dry it out.

Here's a typical brush ... note also Q-tip or Cotton Buds which are also ideal for removing dirt

Often after unscrewing grub screw that hold detonator pin, it will go out by itself.
A few times I used thin pliers to grip pin and pull it out, but this is a bad idea - too easy to scratch pin.
My latest invention is a bamboo chopstick, split in half with a knife. It is thin enough to fit beside the metal, and it has a good shape - externally rounded, flat on split side. This is enough to push pin through the barrel.
