PostSubject: Need opinion and value   Need opinion and value Icon_minitimeThu Apr 21, 2011 1:08 am

I am selling a few firearms for a widow friend of mine. She said her husband has had this MGC in their closet for 35 years. He passed away 25 years ago. She asked me to get a value and put it up for sale. Looking at the internet I see these selling from 1K to 2.5K.

Here are some pictures. Please email me if you and me to send you some pictures.

Your advice will Greatly Be Appreciated!!!

There is one on Gunbroker that has been offered on and off for over two years at the price you are quoting, it has never had a bid on it.

Speaking from experience and the 2 years I had mine on several websites, you are lucky to if you get over $500.

Mine was immaculate and unfired, came with a sling and a spare mag - still simply would not sell.

There are a lot of cheaper metal MP40's available in the US, which hasn't helped with the desirability of these.

There is a little more interest in these in the UK, as there are legal ways of converting the MGC MP40 to regular blank fire for reenactment use - this conversion is pretty much illegal in the US.

My recommendation is; don't take my word for it, offer it at $800 and drop the price if it doesn't sell - you may find someone who wants one. There have been quite a few on Gunbroker and Ebay in the last few months, none have topped $500.

*word of warning - be very careful how you word your ebay ad, they will close the ad if you use the wrong combination of words, or neglect to make very, very clear it is a non-firing replica.

Good luck,

JJ

Hello and welcome to the forum :-)

You might want to read this thread for a very similar discussion, and to discover which features may influence value, such as a cut bolt:

Value of the model depends strongly on what the buyer would pay for it.
Prices vary between 400$ (in USA) and 1000$ (Europe), see some examples here:
