Hello everybody,
Today, another review for a rare model gun the Tanaka Works Glock 18.
I think Smootik wil be happy because he wanted this review for his "request list"
It's my second Tanaka after the python 357 but I have already 2 airsoft revolvers. It's therefore my first Tanaka pistol.
Is it as beautiful as the revolver? That's we will see.
1 / The box.The box is quite small and as usual by Tanaka really simple. We have all that we want in the box:
- Glock 18
- 5 cartridges
- A loading tool
- A key to unscrew detonator pin
- A user's manual for Gock 17 (with 2 sheets more for G18) in UFO language
2 / The look.Ok the first impression is good. It's really beautiful. This model gun has Heavy weight frame and ABS slide -barrel.
Some metal parts outside like slide stop, rear sight and the parts to remove slide.
This model is a Glock 18 with long barrel, with compensator.
Some people like the long barrel and others not, I am not very fan about this barrel. That's why I will order a glock 17 barrel from Francky
.
The frame is well made and I must admit I had several Airsoft glock and this is really the most beautiful frame that I see.
Almost no traces of moulding.
The sights are nice too :
3 / Markings. With this model, Tanaka gives us all markings.
Really good job.
4 / Strip down and internals parts. To remove the slide, it's very easy push down 2 parts on each side of slide and the slide goes to the front. It's not the same thing than my Wa shan that I remove the slide with a hammer.....Here, all is perfect made.
Little disappointed thing, the recoil sprig guide is plastic
The internal parts are all metal and all is clean and well made.
Info: A good thing, when you unscrew the detonator pin, it moves easily. Good for cleaning.
5 / Magazine and loadingHere is THE Tanaka's mistake, a full plastic magazine !!! Like USP this Glock has a full plastic magazine (except just magazine lips which are metal). Why doing that Mr Tanaka ??? Are you crazy? It's so easy to do a metal one.
Look at that photo:
Arrrggg ouch 55 grs only. You understand now what is the signification of the "light" word.
To compare with a Marushin M9 magazine :
Pfff 80 grs between the 2. Really impressive.
Anyway, let's see in details.
It's a shame because it is well made and you can see how many carts it remains. You can put 17 carts in it.
With this plastic magazine, the gun's weight is lighter :
The cartridges are quite expansive (about 50$ the 15 box) but they are very nice.
Like Smootik says, it is the most complicated carts ever seen. 6 parts : top, bottom, insert, tube, piston pin, o-ring
These carts use 5mm cap and you must have small fingers to prepare them
Here is the Tanaka loading tool, use it just to push the cap inside the tube.
6 / FireOk it's time to try this model gun. This version of Glock can fire semi or full auto. Let's begin by the semi mode.
Put the mag, rack the slide and.....STOP.
Yes I just want to say my thought before fire is " pff 5mm cap, I think the noise will be poor".
So......
BANGWhhaaaouuuhhh( sorry don't know the word in English).
Amazing, the sound is very very loud and the cart fly until my neighbour's house !!! Trust me it's very impressive. I think we can say now it is not the size of the cap but the system which is important. My 2 Marushin M9 don't fire so good. Great.
Another problem is, always like Smootik says in the USP review, the O ring moves on the piston pin and it breaks. I have to find another o ring or find a solution to avoid this problem.
Info: this cartridge works with marushin m9. I have to do others try but the size is good.
Now the full auto, just push down the selector.
Gooooo !!!!
Incredible!! really pleasurable ! Some jams but I need to learn about this model gun, it needs to be tamed.
Already empty???
7 / To concludeWell well well. It's time to conclude and I must say I LOVE this model gun. The finish is incredible, the fire is incredible, the cartridges are very beautiful and the power of fire is really here. That I except from a model gun. This model is so great that I ask myself if I must buy a new M9 by Tanaka.
When I see my wa shan beside my Tanaka, I cry. I think I prefer a good plastic model gun than a poor metal gun. I bought this Glock 18 the same price that the Wa shan.
Ok the Tanaka magazine is plastic but when it is in model gun, you don't think about.
If I can find a solution for this O ring which break, I will have a perfect model gun.
PS: I need also a metal magazine and at this moment I will have a perfect model gun
