Tanaka Works U.S.M9 Armed Forces Heavy Weight Empty
PostSubject: Tanaka Works U.S.M9 Armed Forces Heavy Weight   Tanaka Works U.S.M9 Armed Forces Heavy Weight Icon_minitimeFri Jun 17, 2011 6:15 pm

Hello friends,

1 / Introduction

Like you can read in the title, I decided to buy a new M9 and it’s a Tanaka Works. Some people must know I have already 2 others Marushin M9 (1 black HW kit and 1 silver kit). So why buy another one? First, I love the M9 and second I wanted a last one (I hope  ). I hesitated between :

-Wa Shan full metal
-Tanaka works Heavy Weight plastic

Why choose Tanaka?
First, I have a Wa shan Glock 17 and, like you can read in my review, I am not happy with it. I can even say it’s a crap. Medium finishing, poor operation, rusty parts, etc. I know others members are happy with their wa shan but it seems a random to have good or bad model.
Second, after my bad Glock 17 purchase, I have tried Glock 18 by Tanaka and this time: BINGO!!! Incredible model gun.
So I decided to choose my friend Tanaka, let’s see if this model is as good as my glock 18.

! I have put Guarder Beretta grip, with some smalls modifications, and this grip weighs twice as heavy as the original (36grs vs 17grs).

Ok we have all the things for a good brand model gun, that’s means:
-Model gun with magazine
-User’s manual in Japanese (you can see it in the instruction section)
-5x 9mm metal carts
-A loading tool
-2 keys (1 for remove the detonator pin and other for remove the safety).

3 / The look

First impression is …very very good. The model gun is all black and there is NO but NO moulding trace, all is well perfect made. This is a Heavy Weight version and we can feel the good weight. Like often, we have hammer, magazine catch, disassembling latch, slide stop, trigger, safety and internal mechanism made in metal (some other parts in metal but I don’t know the words for).

The slide is ABS HW and really well made. The frame is also ABS HW and just perfect. We can say it’s 10/10 for the finishing, it’s as usual by Tanaka.

This model is really well made !

With the Guarder Beretta grips, this model weighs rather heavy

4/ Markings

The markings are very good and many. We have just the little “TW” on the slide and under the left grip we can see :”Made by Tanaka Works”.

5/ Strip down and internal parts

To remove the slide, push down the disassembling latch and the slide goes out. The recoil spring guide is metal but the barrel is plastic. All is clean and tidy, nothing to say.

6/ Magazine and loading

Unlike the Tanaka Glock 18 and USP, the magazine is full metal.

The cartridges are the same as the Glock, USP and P220 series. It’s all metal carts with metal end. This model uses also 5mm caps.

You see the mag is quite heavy.

7/ Fire

Ok let’s go, rack the slide and press the trigger :
BANG!!
Yeeess, this model gun is as powerful than the glock 18 ie GEANT! I love that !!!
This model has also the same problem than the glock ie the oring in the cartridge blow out from the piston (Francky will send me spare o ring). Ok it’s a shame for oring blow out but let me tell you something :
With these model gun (the glock and now the m9) I find my favourite model gun, why? Because there is almost no jams, you put the cap and you fire and bang!! No need to oil more or less. This is my opinion but I want a model gun which works well and which make some noise and smoke.
So ok I haven’t metal frame and slide but I don’t care !!!
Another good thing is when you unscrew the detonator pin for cleaning, it falls alone. Again, it’s better than the Marushin where I can’t remove it.

8/ To conclude

I think you understand my opinion, yes I love this model gun, YES I love THE TANAKA MODEL GUN !! They are beautiful and perfectly finished work wonders. I am very happy to choose this Tanaka.
I don’t know all the M9 model gun but if you must choose 1 M9, take a Tanaka.

cheers

Glad you like this Tanaka HW M9 - but you might have notice the muzzle looks like a .40 S&W instead of 9mm (have mentioned this in earlier threads)...

I bought the M92F Commercial - because Tanaka finally rectified this problem on their last M92F offered at the moment...

Tanaka use better quality (smoother at least) HW material than New MGC's M92 series (and better looking pfc rounds of course) Very Happy ...

When you say "the muzzle" you mean the end of the barrel ?
If it's that, you 're right, I will take a photo and add it in the review.

see you

In my understanding the muzzle should be the front and the chamber should be the "rear" of the barrel scratch ...anyway you get what I mean Wink ...

Thanks again for another great review Momocampo Very Happy
The Tanaka M9 is a really, really good looking model and it's good to see that you're very happy with it.
Maybe you could show us a video of it firing Question There's nothing more enjoyable than seeing a well made and set up modelgun firing well Wink

Those 5mm cartridge 0-rings are notorious for breaking or peeling away during firing. Friction between the 0-ring and the brass sleeve it moves in is the cause. All you can do is apply silicone grease to the 0-ring to make sure it's lubricated. Unfortunately however, being so small, friction is almost inevitable and they will peel off often.
Try and get several spares as you'll need them.

Thanks again for a superb review and these great photographs Very Happy

Thanks Cerwyn.
;
Yes I like this model gun and yes it works well. I maybe can do some videos but I must try the result and especially the sound.
I have to stop buying because I begin to have a big collection Smile and my wife scream lol

When I begin the model gun, I made a list of the models that I want, if I don't change, I have to buy just one more and It will be over.

Thanks and see you friends

As you've already realised, modelguns are addictive. I had a very short list once, but threw it away as there's ALWAYS another model I see that I MUST have Wink Be prepared to keep on buying Momo'... your poor wife will be screaming more soon, you'll see Very Happy
I think most of us realised a long time ago that it's Never over Exclamation

Hi Momocampo. Really enjoy your reviews!
I think you may also be addicted to writing reviews as well as collecting modelguns! (?) 'Very Happy'

Isn't it strange that wives and girlfriends seem to react the same way?
Modelguns seem to arouse a "squeal" factor as they begin to grow in number! 'Evil or Very Mad'
It must be genetic! 'Question'
"Vive la differance!
