| OK Just got hold of this model and would be greatfull of any info/ideas to get it going!: UPDATE ok found this on Jays old site: http://www.modelguns.co.uk/mausercarbine.htm helps sort what it is but need some ideas on if marushin/MGC part will fit??Really not sure about its history/details, I think after looking at this link: CLICK: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~yon-yon/cgi/hudson/mauser2/index.htmlits an early hudson ?? Unfurtunatly the internal block that holds the important parts is suffering from many cracks, this can be seen by the way the lugs have broken of, its starting to crumble If anyone has this peice from an MGC I MAY be able to graft it in?? SPARES anyone????) As you can see it has a removable open barrel, centre firing pin, det pin in barrel, two things make me think it may be the Hudson, 1 the bottom of the mag 2 the hole in the hammer the only marks apart from the usual "waffenfabrik mauser" marks is the crown on the top slide: A few more pics, please any info/comments/ ideas appreciated:) All the best Johnny | |

| This is from "Nifty's web site: http://homepage3.nifty.com/nkoinuma/Mauser.htmIt think you are correct in identifying it as a Hudson.' ' "It is said that German Mauser M1896 is the first mass-produced automatic pistol in the world. There WERE some other automatic pistols before it, but it was the first model whose style and machanism had a great influence on many models after that. M1896 modelguns were made from zinc alloy by MGC and Hudson, and its carbine models were also made by them. The MGC models were the M1916 type, a 9mm-parabellum pistol which has a fixed inner 10-round magazine whereas t he Hudson models are the M1930 type, a 7.63mm-Mauser pistol which has a detouchable (sic) 10 or 20-round magazine. The MGC models disappeared in the late 1980s, but the Hudson carbine was available until the early 2000s. And its full-auto version, M712 models, are made from ABS plastic by Marushin (complete & kit) and Marui (kit), and Marushin has been making its zinc alloy models as well. They work really well. Later, in the 1990s, Marushin made its dummy cartridge version with heavy weight plastic (Black HW version & Excellent HW version) and they reproduced the EXHW version in 2008. They also released M712 Carbine in 2008." I have an MGC (RMI) version C96 pistol, and it differs in many ways from your gun, apart from being a different model anyway! I have no idea about how interchangeable the workings are, but if photos (or dimensions) of the internals of my pistol will help, just sing out! Hopefully someone in the forum will have some Hudson bits Best of luck. Kiwigunner | |

| Nice one you have there! Mauser C96 looks surprisingly well in carbine configuration. I believe it's a dumm model, not cap-firing? | |

| Hi OK got some more info, c/o Nifty http://homepage3.nifty.com/nkoinuma/Mauser.htmIt appears this is one from about 1971, 1st Hudson build with the steel hollow barrel I was very frustrated by the broken internals, and looking at niftys site it appeared the only option was to use the MGC internals (slight mod) or hudson originals, BUT spent about 8 hours working through the night and managed to graft Marushin internals inside !! I used the metal internals fron a Marushin Mauser 712 kit, took out all the full auto parts and by modifing the Marushin part only got the model working as it should!! Needed about 1mm removing from either side of the block, and all moving parts had to be thinned/reworked. To be honest nearly every face had to be cut / worked on, I used the original Hudson bolt lock internal part but all the rest is nice new solid Marushin!! Some pics of finished job: Anyway all working now cycles Marushin Mauser rounds and works as it should!! I am a happy bunny | |

| Inspirational JohnnyV ! Frustration can obviously be a strong motivator.....plus the fact that you have an awesome Mauser carbine that deserves to be more than a "has been" model! Great innovation and determination ... and good ol' ingenuity! As our old modelguns age and deteriorate (or new ones detonate!) I expect more members will learn to follow your example - and it's nice to know that this type of mod can be achieved with some fiddly hard work! A great cure for being frustrated. Excellent cure for aging modelguns too! Kiwigunner
