Hi everybody,
Some pictures of a deactivated MAS49 french rifle
This semi automatic rifle is an evolution of the FA40 (fusil automatique modèle 1940) automatic rifle model 1940, adopted the 03/28/1940. Never issued to french armies, because an old french tradition=> breakthrough in Sedan followed by a major military disaster.
The FA40 was a 5 rounds rifle. In 1944 a new model with a 10 rounds magazine was released and produced, in 1949 it became the MAS49*, with an integrated grenade launcher.
(*) Manufacture d'Armes de Saint Etienne=> Saint Etienne's weapons factory.
The mas49 fires the 7,5x54 m1929C cartridge.
