hey guys
you know i said that the trenchgun would probably be the last "big" gun i bought ......... well ....... u know what im like hehehehe
i've been thinking my little collection will be sadly lacking without some kind of rifle (other than my winchester ! )
so i'm wondering what types of PFC rifle there is out there.
you lot know my tastes ..WW2 or earlier
i have seen a Mauser Karabiner 98k pfc model which i am quite leaning towards
but im curious to know what other PFC versions there are ....if any ! .....because ive seen a hell of alot of dummy versions...and ..well they're no good hehehe

Rifle wise i can only think of the Ruger Mini 14 by CMC i think which comes in a number of guises, only semi auto i think and the MGC M1 carbine again semi auto and i think thats it. If the ruger was full auto as well i would get a customised one.

Tanaka made versions of the select fire Ruger "mini 14" (AC556) series as well as the semi auto only mini 14 . These where all zinc and steel and where either direct copies of the defunct CMC mini 14 series or, Tanaka bought the molds and rights to make them. Tanaka has also made all metal modelgun versions of the type 99 carbine as well as the take down paratrooper version (the type 2) .
I guess that the Hudson M14 was offered as a modelgun version too but they are rare and they seem to have problems. There are possibly more rifle sized modelguns out there but, that's all that i can think of right now.
Yep, it's only you Gary
P.S. if you desire another rare modelgun, try to find a Tanaka Japanese type 100 submachinegun!

Jay, i have the Shoei G43 video that shows of course, the Cap firing version in action. Shoei goes on production cycles and they will reproduce the cap firing versions for short production runs and then stop for a year or so. Later, they will reproduce the dummy versions and cartridges then start the cycle over. I think that the G43 is the most expensive Shoei model but, i am not sure. It's amazing that modelgun versions of almost all of the WW2 firearms have been represented, with the exception of the Enfield SMLE and the 1903A3 Springfield and some other rifles, the heavy machineguns and some pistols.

well you see mark. thats what i thought ! .......... i seen more machineguns / sub machine guns / pistols / revolvers than you could poke a stick at ! ....... but the good old rifle seems to be sadly lacking ! (at least as PFC versions) wheres the Lee Enfield ? ....and why will no-one make a PFC version of the Browning automatic ! (tell you theres a modelgun i wouldnt even think twice about getting regardless of price :lol hehehe ) and as far as me being the only colector of the 'unusual' stuff ....... well ....guess that gives me a rather unusual title ........ we have mark ... the oracle of all modelgun knowledge ....... john .... king of the handguns ....... and me.....lord of the 'unusual' hahahaha i guess ill try and hunt down a Mauser Karabiner 98k (PFC) ...... out of all of them thats the one i like best

Gary,
The cap firing version K98 was made only by CMC and they have been bankrupt for years...I don't know if they where reproduced by anyone else other than CMC that's why they rarely show up for sale..The Lee Enfield is not represented for some reason which is too bad as it's an excellent battle rifle! I can see why the BAR doesn't have a modelgun version as they are large and expensive to make plus they have rather heavy internal parts and long cartridges. I am suprised that Hudson hasn't made one yet.
There are allot of reasons that the manufacturers don't produce the models that we want:
1. Economics: if we produce the model will they sell?
2. Economics: if we tool up for production will they sell?
3. Economics: can we sell these modelguns for a good profit?
4. Economics: will we be stuck will a bunch of un-sold expensive modelguns?
These are the thoughts that run through the bosses head at the modelgun manufacturers offices...

- Speaking of economics, I think the modelgun makers are all making best use of their "cash cow" - re-producing their popular models with slight modifications to maintaina the margin & avoid heavy investment. It is understandable.
John, that is exactly what MGC is currently doing..But, since they went bankrupt in 1994 they realised that they had tried to wander from their basic appeal: modelguns by attempting to make modelguns as well as airsoft versions they streched their money and tallent too thin and they collapsed. Now, with Taito calling the "shots" it seems that MGC has to focus on their best selling modelgun lines and reintroduce only the best selling modelguns first. I think that if they can keep selling and make a profit on their best selling models, they then might come out with one or two (hopefully) totally new modelguns...

I don't really know if they will cost that much but it might be close...They are very cool rifles and they are very well detailed CMC did a fine job replicating them.

well ........ i've scoured the websites
and as far as rifels are concerned ....... (disregarding the pfc / dummy version element for the time being )
the mauser kar 98k appears to be the only "bolt action" rifle that i've seen ....and out of all of them ...... that style of rifle is the one that most appeals ........ i would prefer a Lee Enfeild ........but as they dont exist .........ill go for the k98 instead

As far as "bolt action" rifles are concerned Tanaka makes the Japanese type 99 bolt action in a modelgun configuration..So, in reality, there are two or possibly three bolt action modelguns at least.
