| Only 150 of these have been made nearly all pre ordered in japan Also worth noting that there are now CP hex piston carts available for the GM7 (requires det pin changing) | |

| Hi John,Will this also require a metal frame insert and new extractor to suit the metal cartridges _________________ Cerwyn

| Hi Cerwyn
Well it seems that in TK's view these (and the open TK alloy type metal carts available) are made of the new alloy (like the TK M4 carts) now they say that they are still light enough that they do no put strain on ejector or extractor. The metal frames only advantage is the feed ramp (TK moved feed ramp from barrel to frame, this is one of the major factors that makes the GM7 design work so well) the metal frame will obviously take more hits with no chance of breakage. However there is no requirement from TK to use anything in the way of special frames/extractors for the alloy carts. They DO recomenend upgraded parts if using BRASS cp carts. This seems sensible as a resin cart weighs 3g, an alloy cart 6g, and a BRASS cart 18g approx The frames I think.... are made by BWC and their carts are brass so hence the need for stronger extractor/frame.

| Very interesting development - I wonder what cost/performance factors come into play. Why alloys were not used before etc. | |

| Thanks John Having used TK .223" M4 carts with the Hex Piston, their light weight compared to brass certainly makes them eject faster and easier. The Hex. Piston does, as claimed allow more smoke to vent out of the cartridge too. This particular gun does look very impressive in its new finish. It would be great to have a completely new modelgun as Claymore says though. _________________ Cerwyn

| What is interesting to me is the idea of using the new alloy cp carts in other models:) Might make it a bit harder to break them The MGC HW 1911s might be a good one to try them on, as we all know they tend to bust barrels wonder how far these would fly when fired in a MGC tommy!!! | |

| These rounds look interesting the aluminium AK47 rounds work really well so these may be very good for MGC barrels as cerwyn says let us know when you get them | |
