| Hello all, I think about buy a Marushin S&W M39 kit but the description is : "Marushin S&W M39 Dummy Cartridge Type Excellent Heavy Weight Model Gun Kit" So it's dummy cartridge, that's means no cap. But do you think it's just the carts that are dummy or all the gun ??Do you think it's possible to fire with this model gun with others carts??? SO, if someone knows this model can answer me, it will be good. Bye | |

| Marushin makes a mixture of cap-firing and dummy versions of their S&W models. Confusing, hein? In your case I would say this really is a dummy cartridge. If you have pictures, check cartridge. Full tops - they are dummy, usual hole for detonator pin - cap firing.
BTW - if you buy from HK shops, caps are forbidden there and all modelguns are advertised as dummy ones. Most of them are cap-firing though, as you likely already know. This adds to confusion with this Marushin model.

| Unless Marushin states on their boxes that the new guns are centre-fire - otherwise they're simply faithful repros built with old side-fire system (no firing pin)...
I'll check if the side-firing "firing pin block" have been weld-up (and the detonators might have been shortened allowing round-nose dummy rounds to be loaded) to make it complete dummies asap...

Buying caps is just like buying cocaine here in HK if I can put it this way - mainly sold by one particular off-line gun shop... Back to Marushin cap-firing guns: seems Marushin have modified almost of the old models to centre-fire: Browning / Beretta / Colt...only S&W semi-autos left in the cold

| You're giving me names Momo ...anyway what I can get from my collection... From my old Suzuki/Marushin M92SB with old side-fire system: The firing pin looks normal from the rear but strange on the front (to hit the rim of the old-styled rounds without "primer") From the latest dummy M39/M439: Both front & the rear of the firing pin block looks strange & welded solid: and also no detonator inside the chamber to strike the cap... Seems the same applies to their repro Colt .25 & Browning M1910 "dummy only"... | |
