Cartridges for MGC Winchester Saddle Carbine

Does anyone know where I can source cartridges for the above titled Winchester, or rather, the Winchester that I'm restoring in my other thread? If it's an MGC like I think it is, then I think it would have used .44 cartridges. I've tried all the UK sellers to no avail.

Genuine MGC 44/40 cartridges are pretty much impossible to find now. It may be worth asking shazhib (contact him via PM here), he may be lucky and find some in Japan somewhere.

I believe John at PFGCUK has been able to make custom cartridges to fit the MGC Winchesters. Have you asked him about that possibility?

My search for carts has so far hit a brick wall. Any forum members that own a set of digital verniers and have a .44-40 cart able to measure it up and let me know what the exact dimensions are? I've decided to try and turn some carts out of some brass rods on my hobby lathe.

Strange thing is I have a friend who's into western re-enactment and we sized a real .44-40 empty casing in the block and the casing is wider than the internal diameter of the block so I'm pretty sure that means a PFC cart is going to be slightly narrower than a real one.
