| Post by 8ace I sanded the bottom edge of the top half of the main cartridge body (where the two half’s join), which has shortened the total length of the cartridge (hope that makes sense) | |

| Post by Mark Yes, I suppose that would work just as well as any other method of shortening the overall length. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by Mark I am at least reasonably sure that the WaShan modelguns where patterned off of MGC models in the past. So, I think that their cartridges also are copies of the original MGC cartridges in as much as the general dimensions are concerned. For some reason, the WaShan cartridges are shorter due to some diamensional changes over time? _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by 8ace Spencerman It was claymore's recommendation for the MGC SIG P220 cartridges for the Wa Shan M9 that made me buy them, and they are fantastic straight out of the box. I'm getting the Wa shan M84 soon and I’ll see which work best in it.
Mark The .45 cartridge does resemble the old style MGC cartridge dimensions and the 9mm matches the MGC SIG cartridges exactly but the internals look like the Marushin design

| Post by rizzo Seeing as we're discussing old style mgc colt cartridges- is the only part I need to replace to convert my old style mgc colt to fire the new style .45 cartridges a new barrel? Cheers | |

Rizzo,
I think that you need the slide, barrel, magazine etc. as the later "real look" .45 MGC cartridges are larger in diameter... _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by rizzo Hmm... you could be right, although the newer barrels are the same out diameter as the older type, it's just the 'chamber' part which is smaller. And I have been able to fit deactivated .45 bullets into my mag before, so I assume it will fit the newer type too. I was thinking more the mech in the frame, could that be different? | |

| Post by Mark The magazine feed lips might vary somewhat as they might be wider that the old magazine. But, I don't know as I don't have any late model MGC .45's that use the "Real Look" .45 cartridges. _________________ Wanted to buy: MGC Sten MK3....trades?(still)

| Post by korppi I'm making an order from franky's shortly and I want to be sure what to buy.
So for .45 the shorter MGC .45 CP-HW are the right choise?
And for 9mm (or the rest?) Wa shangs the MGC sig P220 CP-HW?
Would somebody with broader experiense with WS guns care to make list of cartiges which fit each WS gun and then admin could make it a stikytopic? Reading this 40 answer long topic with different opions confuses more or less. Such topics from other guns and makers would surely be helpfull for beginners.

| Post by Claymore Yes the sig p220 rounds work great in the 9mm wa shan, the smaller older rounds of mgc 45 do fit but not perfectly they are la little long and the slide does not go fully home (well at least on mine) this did not sti=op it from working though and they are the only round that come close to fitting that i have found. It could be you just need to take a little off the det pin for the round to fit right 1mm maybe but i cannot say for certain as i have not checked. hope this helps | |

| Post by 8ace I'm using the older two tone MGC .45 rounds in my Wa Shan Colt but they are a bit long (gap between the barrel/slide) so i used some 600grit paper to remove about 1mm from the threaded end of the bullet part which allows the barrel to stop against the slide.
Works a treat.
And yes i'm using the MGC P220 in my Wa Shan M9
