| Post by Madmike To be frank I never noticed any difference, both MGC and Marushin caps are in fact made by Kanecap Japan, so I doubt there is any noticable difference ... _________________ "It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over." | |

| Although I cannot comment on shotgun applications, Marushin 7mm caps do produce more sparking effects than the MGC versions but the effect is only really visible from the ejection port of the gun. If only there was a cap that produced nice muzzle flash!
There is a video clip or a photo on the threads here of a shotgun fired using additional magnesium powder which belched out copious amounts of flame and sparks but I wouldn't say it was realistic!
If one of my real shotguns ever did that I'd throw it away, far away!

| Post by ricks FWIW - Can the so-called "ring" caps that are used in kids' cap-firing revolvers be substituted in 5mm carts? They seem to be identical dimensionally; is the powder charge the same? _________________ Rick | |

| Post by Claymore If you want sparks then it is the marushin caps you need they give out the same amount of sparks as the 7mm but in a shotgun you wont get that much of an effect, i doubt much will come out of the barrel (if anything) and even in handguns most of the spark comes from the breach, it is possible to get a good flash i think using possibly magnesium powder but how you use the powder with a shotgun round i have no idea. forget kids capgun caps no wher near as powerfull as modelgun caps. It possible to use up to 4 caps in a shotgun round rather than just 2, that mught help you a bit. | |

| Post by GZ22 I tried using nitrocotton in my M31, but it gives a yellow flame which isn't that realistic, and the other disadvantage is that you have to manually reload the barrel each shot. If you come up with a good plan for generating good flash from the M31, I'd be interested to see it. | |
