| I don't know if this is appropriate or allowed. Please remove it if it isn't. I am turning a limited number of Titanium and also stainless steel detonator pins to convert your MGC68 MP40 to P220 cap rounds. I am accepting orders on my website. Link to my site Its under the Misc & non-militaria collectibles section. I'm also trying to figure out other parts that I have the ability to make that I can also list to help everyone out in an area where stuff is hard to get. Thanks and regards everyone. | If these are over priced refer me to the others for sale and I can adjust or mark down accordingly. Thanks everyone..

| Hi Adam,Please forgive my late reply. These conversion pins have been made by Mika in Japan for several years as well as other custom parts. This link should take you to his Yahoo Japan Auction page showing his Pin:- http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b171839189 4980JPY converts to about US $41 which should give you a rough guide for pricing. _________________ Cerwyn

| Subject: MP40 p220 det pin conversion Sat Mar 18, 2017 10:41 pm | |
| Hi forum members,
In the past year I've been able to pickup a couple of MGC68 MP 40's. The first one arrived already to go. The newer arrival had had a removable plug without a proper det pin.
The first model gun had the standard 9mm det pin. Having no desire to foul up a 40+ year old model gun that was in near new condition, it would be my wall hanger. In the event of a change of heart, I purchased 2 new brass P220 det pins.
With the recent arrival of a second MGC68 MP40, I decided to modernize the first and install the remaining pin into the second gun.
The chrome trunnion on one gun appears to be deeper than the other. While both P220 replacement pins fit into the trunnions neither have the dimensions of the original det pin. Getting proper fitment when attempting to secure is quite difficult. One barrel doesn't quite snug up properly while the other requires a small washer (when snugging up the barrel) to keep the P220 pin from moving about.
Lastly, the original 9mm pin seemed to be a perfect fit going in the trunnion with the small pin barely sticking out the other side. When seated into the trunnions the new det pins look like needles sticking through. They just about touch the cartridges in the clip.
I've been in touch with a forum member/friend who has been kind enough to do some digging around for MP40 information.
Finally my two questions.
Are the modern P220 conversion pins a one size fits all/install and fire away? Is there a more basic P220 pin that more closely resembles (in design) the original MGC68 MP40 det pins?
Thanks, Chris

| Hi Chris, Here's a link to a drawing I posted up on the forum a few years ago giving full dimensions of the Det.Pin fitted in my MGC68 MP40 for reference :If your Det.Pins were made by Mika in Japan, they usually have a couple of very small diameter grub screws through the brass retaining ring holding the separate Pin in place. This allows for some adjustment to length of pin. Can you see any grub screws in yours or are they solid one piece units? _________________ Cerwyn

| Hi Cerwyn,
Thanks for getting back in touch re: the Mika P220 det. pins. That's what I have.
Unwilling to grind either the tip of the steel det. pin or the small collar/flare that prevents the steel pin from moving rearward, a friend was kind enough to remove 3mm from the face of the P220 brass det. pin housing.
With the reduction in depth, the untouched pin now sits 3mm further away from carts in the mag.
Now able to fire 9 of 10 carts without difficulty, the MGC68 MP40 has become fully functional.
Does the last cart usually remain in the mag?
I'll add the MGC68 info into the registry in the next couple of days.
Thanks, Chris

| It's great to know your MGC68 is now fully functional The last round should fire like the rest. Is the mag follower coming up all the way to push the ladt round against the feed lips? _________________ Cerwyn
